Airplane Crashes in Fox Lake, IL
The Fox Lake Fire Department received a call that a plane had crashed on
one of the villages busy streets. Squad 2252 arrived to find a single engine
plane engulfed in flames and a police officer suffering from burns. With 2200
and 2264 arriving on the scene behind the Squad the fire was quickly
extinguished. 2200 called for Flight For Life and a Squad Company from
Round Lake. The injured officer was a Lake County Sheriff deputy that was
passing through town and witnessed the plane crash. As he approached the
plane it exploded throwing him through the air. He was flown to a burn center
where he is recovering. The pilot and passenger both died in the crash.
