Round Lake firefighters were called to a house fire and arrived to find the rear of
the home fully involved with heavy extension into the 2nd floor and attic. A box
alarm was pulled to assist with the short handed Round Lake crews. The fire
was located in Station one's district and Station one's crew was tied up with a
full arrest so units responded from Stations two and three, Fox Lake with an
ARA unit and Station one with a Squad once a crew was put together. Problems
with the cities water supply gave firefighters water pressure problems, causing
engine crews to lay hose a few blocks down to get a handle on the water supply
issue. Once water was flowing at full pressure the fire was nocked and heavy
overhaul was needed. The home housed a landscaping business with gasoline
and equipment stored in the garage.
