Quick spreading Townhouse fire keeps Round Lake Fire busy.
|
|
The models for a new Townhouse development went up in flames, keeping Round Lake
and the Quad 2 fire departments busy putting it out. The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District received a 911 call around 4:45pm and responding units could see the header from miles away. When the Round Lake units arrived they found the row of homes well involved with thick smoke and flames shooting from the roof and second floor. Round Lake Command quickly went to a Box Alarm, calling Lake Villa, Fox Lake and Antioch to the scene. Grayslake was already in route on the auto response. Crews from Round Lake Engine 2623 and Squad 2651 started their attack
followed by a Grayslake Engine Company. Round Lake Truck 2630 arrived, setting up
at the corner of the complex, assisted by a Fox Lake Squad Company. The middle section of the complex collapsed, snapping two gas meters which resulted in two blow torches. With several hand lines, master streams from the Tower operation and Grayslakes Engine, the fire was nocked down. It took a few more hours for the gas supply to be shut off. |
