The Antioch Fire Department was called to the scene of a structure fire at the end of a narrow
road, with a long driveway along the lakefront. The chief arrived on the scene first to find a
large two story home with heavy fire through out the entire structure. Antioch Engine and
Tanker companies quickly arrived and set up a tanker shuttle due to the lack of fire hydrants
in this part of Antioch's fire district. Firefighters were hampered by downed powerlines and a
burning gas supply. Not long after the there arrival, the second floor collapsed. Tankers were
called in from Lake Villa, Fox Lake, Round Lake and Spring Grove. The owner of the home
was found deceased during overhaul.
