Fox Lake FD battles a "fully involved" house fire.
The Lake County Sheriff received a call of a house fire at the end of a long, hard to reach
part of the county. When the Fox Lake FD Chief arrived at the scene he reported a large 2
story lakefront home that was fully involved in fire. He was notified that the house was
vacant and called for a defensive attack. He then pulled a box alarm for Tankers from the
surrounding area departments. Round Lake resonded with an Engine & Tanker. The area of
the fire was very hard to get fire apparatus to the scene. The first in engine company did a
great job of saving the house to the north that was taking a lot of smoke & heat.
Fox Lake FD respond to a twisted car wreck.
Fox Lake Fire & Rescue received a call for a vehicle that left the road into some woods
and burst into flames just south of the Wisconsin border. A Fox Lake Pumper/Squad
was the first to arrive and reported they had a fully involved vehicle fire with small fires
spreading all over the area, including the utility pole that the car was wrapped around.
The car left the road on a curve, started to flip over when it hit a tree stump, then hit a
second stump which ripped the car apart, bursting into flames. It then rolled end over
end traveling over 50 yards before wrapping around a utility pole upside down.
Somehow the 16 year old girl was able to crawl out of the burning car with only minor
burns.
