of beauty and carved a niche for themselves in films, fashion, media

Meher Mistry / Castelino

After the pageant, Meher returned to modelling. She also took
up writing features on fashion in reputed magazines. She has authored
two books, 'Manstyle' and 'Fashion Kaleidoscope' Currently, this proud
mother of two is a much sought after fashion critic.

Persis Khambatta
Miss
India 1965
Persis went on to become one of India's high profile exports,
the bald prima donna of Star Trek, the token Indian in Hollywood.
She was the brain behind 'Pride of India' a comprehensive compilation
of all Miss India winners 1947 to 1997. She passed away in 1998

Yasmin Daji

India 1966
19-year-old Yasmin, a medical student from Delhi not only won
the coveted crown but also went to be the runner up at the Miss Universe
contest later that year. She returned home and completed her studies.
Today Yasmin is happily married and living in New York.

Nayyara Mirza

In the sixties, Nayyara Mirza, defied all oppositons and took
a bold step by participating in the Femina's Beauty Contest. On her
return from the Miss Universe Contest, she was inundated with film
offers. However, she refused all and prefered to settle down in holy
matrimony. Today she is known as Nalini Patel.

Anjum Mumtaz Barg

India 1968
She came from a conservative city of Hyderabad. She entered the
competition for fun. And made history by winning the title. Today
happily married to a neurosurgeon in the United States, Anjum still
reminisces about her proud moment and her home town.

Kavita Bhambani

India 1969
Unlike others who went on to become homemakers, or successful
models or actresses, Kavita became a successful interior designer.
She is also known for single-handedly having championed the cause
of Indian art & architecture.

Veena Sajnani

Winning the title was not enough for Veena. She continued modelling
for some time. She also took up acting and featured in a number of
TV serials. Nowadays she has a part-time job and enjoys playing golf.
