A recipe for an invisible man is created. The theory is experimented on animals. What happens when a human being attempts to become invisible?

Check out the new thriller, Hollow Man (SONY) and see what happens when the invisible experiment goes awry. Hollow Man also stars Kevin Bacon, Elisabeth Shue and Josh Brolin.

Digital Dish Diva: Welcome to MSN Live. Our guest this afternoon is Greg Grunberg, who stars in the #1 film, Hollow Man as well as the hit TV show, Felicity. Please help me welcome Greg Grunberg to MSN Live! Greg, welcome to MSN Live.

Greg Grunberg: Thank you so much for having me. And I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Digital Dish Diva: Let's talk about Hollow Man. I know most of us know you from Felicity. Tell us about your character in Hollow Man.

Greg Grunberg: I play Carter Abbey who is a Cardiologist and the newest greenest scientist. I am most in awe of Sebastian and I look up to him so much that I didn't suspect he would fall evil. He is one of my heroes. I hope I am a little bit of comic relief in the movie and I try to have as much fun with it as I could.

Digital Dish Diva: I read Kevin's diary of the filming. Was it as bad as it sounded?

Greg Grunberg: Kevin talks about how originally he thought it would be an easy gig with being invisible. He has been saying how hard it was. I have to be honest with you. I still have to meet the man. (laughs) Yes, everything he said is absolutely true. I have yet to read the second half. We joke about how every moment was so tedious. It turns out the diary is really fascinating when you look back on it.

Digital Dish Diva: What is your favorite scene?

Greg Grunberg: My death scene is my favorite scene now. At the time it was really difficult because I was wearing a prosthetic on my face that looks like a hand was strangling me. I was wearing a harness and hung up by 4 and a half feet off the ground and it did not fit so snug. I got bruised in the ribs but looking at it now, I love that scene.

Digital Dish Diva: Which character is most like you, this one or your character in Felicity?

Greg Grunberg: My character in Felicity, definitely. I am like Sean. I wear my feelings on my sleeve. I am entrepreneurial to a fault sometimes. I will take an idea as far as I can and make it work. But unlike Sean I have a beautiful wife and family.

Digital Dish Diva: How did you get your start?

Greg Grunberg: I got my start in commercials. I have been at it for about 13-14 years. I had a million different jobs in between to pay the bills, from being a personal driver for Joel Silver to selling frozen yogurt door to door in hair salons and businesses in the afternoon and trying to get an agent commercially first and finally I worked commercially and I had tape and then did student films and it rolled from there. I have been fortunate that I have done some pretty high profile commercials.

Digital Dish Diva: What was the atmosphere like on the set seeing that it's such a serious film?

Greg Grunberg: Paul Verhoeven is very intense but he smiles all the time. I think he appreciated my sense of humor. I was kind of intimated by these incredible actors, Elisabeth and Kevin. It was easy for me to be in awe of them. We had to be scared of things like an ape coming into form and Paul would yell "Cut!" and we would just start cracking up. Kevin and I played 100 games of electronic backgammon every day. I would have to say I killed him.

Digital Dish Diva: Do you have other films in the offing?

Greg Grunberg: I just finished an indie called The Medicine Show which stars Jonathan Silverman, Natasha Gregson Wagner and it is the account of the writer director Wendell Morris from Pinkie and the Brain who battled colon cancer. It was about his experience about going through the "cancer carwash." He is in remission now. I play his writing partner and best friend.

Digital Dish Diva: How is Felicity going? You're back on the set?

Greg Grunberg: Yes. We jumped right back in. We have finished two episodes. It is more of an ensemble this year and we are having such a blast because we appreciate the work. Our fan support saved the show. The shows are funnier now and the fun of college is played up more. Sean and Meghan are together, so I get to act with someone who is so amazing. Amanda who plays Meghan is amazing and talented. She mixes things up. She is so much fun to work with.

Digital Dish Diva: Any funny stories from the set of Hollow Man.

Greg Grunberg: Joey Slotnick and I bought bikes to ride around the lot and Kevin borrowed my bike and completely smashed it up and he still owes me a bike and I will collect.

Digital Dish Diva: Did you keep anything from the set of Hollow Man?

Greg Grunberg: I kept the back of my chair and everyone signed it. That was a memorable moment. Paul on his hands and knees signing the back of my chair in the laboratory. I am trying to get goggles and a tranquilizer gun.

Digital Dish Diva: Couldn't just sneak out with it? (laughs)

Greg Grunberg: (laughs) No. I do have my wardrobe. But scrubs aren't that useful.

Digital Dish Diva: You could sell them at an online auction.

Greg Grunberg: That's true I could. (laughs)

Digital Dish Diva: What did you first think when you saw Hollow Man in the theatre?

Greg Grunberg: I was blown away by the special effects and I was happy with my performance . You have this Dutch Director saying "It is very scary" then "no, no, not that painful." Joey sort of filled me in on how to deal with the special effects and reactions. I first saw it at a press screen and half the audience really loved it. It was just awesome. I snuck in and will continue to sneak into theatres. If you are in LA look in the back of the theatre, you just might see me.

Digital Dish Diva: Well, Greg thanks for being with us and congratulations on this #1 film.

Greg Grunberg: Thanks so much for being interested in what I'm doing. I have received a lot of fan letters and I really love them. Keep them coming.

Tillbaka till start
