Moogy's Complaint First of all, the title. It goes back to when I was writing PopKornTekno, and one of me mates Moogy (AKA Moggs, really Muriel) really liked the voice/dialogue element that featured in the early version of that mod, which I removed from the finished version(s) So she... compained... So my next dance-tastic mod, I said, would have talking in it. The talking in question was sampled from a late-night music review program, which interviewed little-known at the time (except to me and some mates) dance/techno musician called Moby. Moby is currently quite in the limelight with many high-profile tracks, and is quite sensible, but back then was.... off his head... ;) The interview consisted mainly of him saying weird stuff, and by strange camera-work, hovering about a foot off the ground and floating about, hence the sample "Let me show you how to flyyyyyy!!!" Stuff not in the mod that was in the interview included him describing the noise that the local kids/drugs dealers make with their motor-scooters: "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooowwwwwww" ! Anyway, the mod also features a short singing sample, which actually me taking the piss out of all the dance songs of the time which were singing about "Moving on up" and "Take me higher" None of them actually stated where they were going up to, so neither did I, I just assumed they were going to some "higher place" ;) Well, I thought it was funny at the time.. The singer in *this* version of the mod is an old flatmate of mine from my London days, Rhody (Turner I think) and she was a sweet australian chick, with quite a good voice, for all of the 7 words I got her to sing for me.. ;) In the initial version of the mod I had another female chum do the singing bit for me, Hazel Sim, and her bit was just as good, but it became a bit of a "chat-up-line" for me asking chicks if they wanted to "sing in one of my songs, babe?" ;P What a sleazy git ;) This mod - along with PopKorn and the sex/hardcore/nu-reality mods - have had the honour of being played in a couple of Covent Garden clubs in London, much to my ever "Cheshire-Cat" grinning. ;) Paul 1/4/00
