REMINDER

It is important to remember that, as a remote, and off-grid location, we may find ourselves
out of touch with the "outside" world for extended periods. We also may find ourselves
flooded with guests at any certain time period. We will do our best to make
temporary/emergency arrangements for whomever shows up. If you do not receive
a reply to your e-mail it is most likely that we did not receive your message. This does not
mean that we are not receptive to your visit or stay with us. Please keep these realities
in mind and come with a back-up/plan B just in case. BYO Tarp just to be safe

HOW TO FIND US

From the airport follow the exit road to the traffic light at hwy. 11 and turn left.
( If you still need any gear or anything there is a Walmart within the next mile (big
shoppimg center on your left)) Otherwise stay on HWY. 11. You will be leaving Hilo town
and driving through rainforest.

After 6 or 7 miles you will see the Keaau shopping center on the far/left side of the
intersection. Continue up the mountain on HWY 11, after a couple more miles
(no businesses) then you will see a steel warehouse building on your left.
This is J. Hara's store/Kurtistown Post Office / and the only gas station in town.

Continue on the HWY., watching for the first Left turn lane (not island) to appear on
the road. Follow the left turn lane until it's end. ( on the right will be the blue and white
sign for the Kurtistown International Dream Center ) Now turn left on Kuauli rd.

Follow it until it comes to a "T" in the road, and turn right. This is "A" road,
but it won't go far before it turns to the left. This puts you on "8 rd"
( they are starting to give these roads actual names now, but they still include
the old number and letter names on the street signs.) Follow this road past the one mile
marker and you will soon find ( the next road to the right) "B" rd. Turn right
and follow "B" rd. approx. one and two-thirds miles (crossroads numbers decending)
until you come to the intersection of "3" rd. & "B" rd.. We are on the north east corner
of this intersection (to your right and behind you and running half way back to "4" rd.
( the last intersection you passed).

You can honk your horn (four short beeps) and wait for us to come out and direct you
further. If no one comes out after 5 minutes, perhaps none of us are there at
the moment. Make a U-turn in the intersection, beginning back the way you came .
There are several wide spots on our side of the road (now on your left) where
you can pull over and park (watch for potholes and drop-offs) The visitor center
is the Blue tarp approx. 350 ft. back (along "B" rd.) from the intersection.
You can find the path by noticing the high spots in the road (less than 100 ft. apart)
let gravity guide you to the lowest point between these mounds and you should see
the trail head. You may wait under this blue tarp or in your car until we return.

Or if you decide to leave, leave us a note at the visitor tarp of when you plan to return
so we can be sure to have someone there to meet you. It is very rare that no one
is there , but it could happen.

Click the following link for a MAP of the subdivision.

You can also bring up MAP QUEST on another window. Enter " Mountain View "
in the "City" box and "HI." in the "State" box. Zoom in one click. Though the road
names do not appear, the white area to the right of the star is Hawaiian Acres
subdivision. Zoom in one more magnification. Now put the cursor on the
(direction to the) East and click once. you will see "3" rd. appear.
Click "east" again and now the center of the map is at "3" rd. & "B" rd.
Zoom in / out or whatever you want to do to figure out where your at.
SEE YOU HERE...ALOHA!
