THE MORMON GOD COMPARED TO THE TRUE GOD BY RYAN HICKS |
The god of the Mormon Church and the God of the Bible are totally different. The Mormon Church's god was a created god of many gods. He is their father, but had a father himself and so on.
THE MORMON GOD HAS NOT ALWAYS EXISTED!
In the Documentary History of the Church, 6:304 we read, "We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you can see."
This may be the blasphemy of the apostate Mormon Church, but the Bible refutes it time and time again!
ORD, the everlasting God.Genesis 21:33
33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the L
God not only "inhabiteth eternity" (Isaiah 57:15), but He is and always has been. In other words He is "the everlasting God," and not "the everlasting man!" If there ever was a point when He was not God then He could not be the everlasting God, but the Bible is clear and all the Mormon false teachings in the world cannot do away with the truth that GOD ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE!
THE MORMON GOD IS A MAN!
The Mormon Church also teaches "First, God himself, who sits enthroned in yonder heavens, is a man like unto one of yourselves" (Times and Seasons, 5:613).
"The matter seems such a mystery is the statement that our Father in heaven at one time passed through a life and death and is an exalted man" (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 1:10).
If the Mormon god was a man and was not from all eternity then he surely is not the God of the Bible and of all creation, because the Bible is clear that God is not a man!
Numbers 23:19
19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
John 4:24
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
These Scriptures are clear enough that God is not a man, rather He is a Spirit Being. The great dream of all the pagans and false religions has been to exalt man to the place of God and God to the place of man. Thus, they can envision themselves as little "gods" when they actually are godless sinners in desperate need of a Savior! The Mormons follow the same vain desire and expand it, for they teach:
"After men have got their exaltations and their crowns---have become gods, even the sons of God---are made kings of kings and lords of lords, they have the power then of propagating their species in spirit" (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 6:227).
This a a common theme among the God-haters. They want nothing to do with God unless they can become Him and even surpass Him.
THE MORMONS HAVE MORE THAN ONE GOD!
The Mormons teach "This revealed doctrine of the composition and nature of the Godhead teaches that there are at least three Gods" (John A. Widtsoe, Evidences and Reconciliation, 65). The Bible teaches there is only one God or Godhead and Three Persons Who each possess the essence of the Godhead (1 John 5:7).
ORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.Isaiah 44:6
6 Thus saith the L
The Mormon's are contradictory because the book of Mormon also teaches there is only ONE GOD!
1 Nephi 13:41
41 And they must come according to the words which shall be established by the mouth of the Lamb; and the words of the Lamb shall be made known in the records of thy seed, as well as the record of the twelve apostles of the Lamb; wherefore they both shall be established in one; for there is one God and one Shepherd over all the earth.
Alma 11:44
44 ...be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one eternal God....
Mormon 7:7
7 ...unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God....
All of the parts of the book of Mormon above make it clear that the book of Mormon teaches there is one God, thus the Mormon Church teaches against it's own scripture when it teaches many Gods. Yet, the plain english of these Mormon scriptures will not allow for the "one" to mean one in unity, because it would not make sense that way (read each of them again with "one in unity" instead of "one," it does not work!). The book of Mormon is contradictory in this matter anyway.
THE MORMONS FATHER HAD A FATHER WHO HAD A FATHER...
Joseph Smith said, "If Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and John discovered that God the Father of Jesus Christ had a Father [which he did not], you may suppose that He had a Father also. Where was there ever a son without a father? And where was there ever a father without first being a son?" (Joseph Fielding Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.372)
This is absurd, but that is precisely what Mormonism is. Mormons serve a exalted man that lived and died and became a god, but Christians serve a God who always has been and chose to come as a man and die and raise Himself again the third day! Let us reject the Mormon Church's lunacy for the plain Biblical teachings about God and never stray from them simply due to the word of a man who claims to be a prophet and makes a false religion!
