Woo-hoo!Access Hollywood just announced that Leonardo DiCrapio will not be in the next Star Wars movie "because his schedule will not permit it" (yeah, right Yipppeeee!!!!!!!!!!

I think that I must be the only person in existence that actually would have liked to have seen Leo as Anakin. I have always thought him to be quite a good actor - ever since 'Gilbert Grape'. I've been voting for him since before TPM came out although I kinda suspected that his superstar status might hinder is chances. Wow...having admitted that, I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Well, since I'm on a role, here goes: I liked Jar Jar Binks.......... IP: Logged |

i think that leo is a very good actor.. no prob there. i'm happy, cuz i just don't think he's anikan at all. i'll just be happy to see someone else as anikan. i think that leo's first of all a little too scrawny too play anikan. i think that whoever is chosen should be a little more muscular. i also don't think that a big time star like him should do that. they've never really had any leo type stars play in star wars. i still think that paul walker is a good idea personally. Yeehah! I think Leo would have been good if he wasn't so famous... cos him and Jake Lloyd look kinda similiar, know what I mean? Same shaped face, same coloured hair and eyes, same button nose... know what I mean? Only Jake is much cuter and way more talented and gracious with a really good sense of humour. Like IP: Logged |

Hi belldandy28, I think it would have been nice to have Leo as Anakin also. I think that he looks just like Jake Loyld, is a good actor, and is a lot better than some of the choices out there like Chris Masterson (who looks like he's 12 years old and will never age enough to be more mature in Episode III) and Jonathan Jackson. I'm not disappointed though, cause I never really expected it to happen (George doesn't seem to like picking big stars), and I think that George will pick whoevers right for the role. I agree that I thought Leo looked enough like Jake to play Anakin I like him as an actor, but I thought he was too big of a star to play the role. I would have gone no matter who got the role! Guess what? I like Jar Jar too! I even have the stuffed talking Jar Jar and pit droid clock. Drives my family nuts! Hey, what can I say?  IP: Logged |

Well the truth is finally coming out. All the closet Jar Jar fans are outing. I don't like him but I believe in diversity so it's OK by me.  I know most people think Leo is a good actor but in my opinion he is absolutely awful. He looks and sounds like a 14 year old girl. He uses shouts and hysterical crying for showing emotion. He's a ham. Just because a guy cries doesn't mean he can act. IP: Logged |

I too hope an unknown is chose. About the only rumoured actor that I think could work as Anakin is Charlie Hunnam (he's mostly known from Queer as Folk. That boy can certainly act! IP: Logged |

Darn you, KlingKlang, you beat me to it. I was going to say Charlie Hunnam as well. I finally got to see the videos of him, and he's fantastic!! I was so seriously impressed by that young man. What intensity. He definitely could act with Ewan and more than hold his own. Isn't he gay in real life, though? Poor guy--knowing how much the gay men I'm acquainted with "appreciate" Ewan, the poor lad could be quite distracted during filming. IP: Logged |

Hmm, if this guy "plays on the other team" that would make his romantic scenes with Natalie REAL interesting . Not to mention all of the slash.(This isn't to say he can't play it straight, I'm just kidding. He probably would make a good Anakin. Sorry kici! I'm glad that you have been able to see some QAF episodes. Aren't they great? It's too bad the show is no more.  As for Charlie being gay in real life, the general word is "no, he has a girlfriend." But I don't know if that is just PR or what. Of the three entertainment programs access hollywood, entertainment tonight an E, I like the way E did it the best. They interviewed George Lucas. When the interviewer said no Leo he said" No, I don't know how that got started. No Leo. I don't use movie stars. He's too old, he's 25. I want someone around 20." Entertainment tonight made it sound like poor Leo was just too busy. They said he withdrew his name from the running. I guess his PR people knew about the Lucas interview and were trying to save a little face. It seems he wasn't considered. IP: Logged |

Ewzfan, I don't know if Charlie is on the short list or not, but he has read for Mr. Lucas. Have you seen QAF? This kid is good. He has *it,* just like Ewan has *it.* Presence, sexuality, charisma, you name it, Charlie has got it. He is the only young actor I can think of that wouldn't wither away in Ewan's shadow. You can just see it in Charlie's eyes. He could even rival Ewan for the ladies' attention; that's how strong his presence is. He is not some cutesie pie flavor of the moment teenybopper, and he is 19 years old! Just the same age as Anakin in Episode II. Oh George, please get a clue..... This is the first time I've seen or heard of Charlie, but you gals are absolutely right! He is Anakin! This is exactly what I envisioned him to look like in Episode II. There's also some resemblence to Luke at that age, so it would be perfect. How big is he though? I think Anakin should be taller and broader than Obi-Wan since at 20, he would have already reached his full height which is quite tall. If he's got that "thing" Ewan has, like you all say, this could be really interesting.  And thank you, George Lucas, for not wanting to cast any movie stars! Talent above payroll please! IP: Logged |

I can't say this enough on the MB's, but regarding Leo not playing Anakin...thank the maker! As for Charlie, that first picture you posted kici really does capture a look on his face that would totally fit with Anakin. It has a certain intensity that just has to be there. IP: Logged |

I don't know how tall Charlie is, but he seems to be a few inches taller than Craig and Aiden (the other two co-stars in QAF). So I guess he is somewhere around 6 feet. I know how height is an important factor when it comes to Anakin (both Sebastian Shaw and David Prowse are extremely tall individuals), but hopefully it won't deter Charlie's prospects.
