I also saw that version on USA network while I was watching WWF Raw. They showed EOTB once while they showed The Beach 6 times!

Balderdash. The marketing team have probably assumed since Ashley is so popular in the US, that they should use her to promote the film.
If she draws more people in and they see Ewan and become more aware of *him,* more power to her. It's still very much *both* Ashley and Ewan's film.

Since EOTB is a small budget independent, we should be pleased it's getting as much press as it is. Personally, I'll be pleased if Ashley's press junket draws in tons of viewers. I was upset at first that Ewan wasn't getting more mention, but he isn't here to do the promotion, so, I give Miss Judd her due. She is supposed to be dynamite in the role. I hope that it's mentioned that a big part of the reason that Ewan isn't here is that he's in Australia filming "Moulin Rouge" with Nicole Kidman as we speak. I don't know if I'd be that motivated to cross the ocean to do a few press appearances if I knew that Ashley had it covered, and that *she* was the one American audiences were familiar with.

Normally there are ads in our Saturday paper (our Saturday paper is the thick edtion you guys get on Sundays) for upcoming movies. Nothing on Eye.

My Yahoo normally lists upcoming movies for the week. All they're listing now is the Sundance Film Festival. I mean, who cares? The general public won't see the films at Sundance, they'll see films at their local cineplex.

I haven't seen a single ad for it on TV on any of the major US or Canadian networks. I've been seeing ads for Hurricane and Girl, Interrupted many times but nothing for Eye of the Beholder. The fans know, but it's not the fans alone who will make this movie #1 at the box-office, it's the public at large. If they don't know about the movie, they won't go see it in big numbers.

So if they're botching up the promotion, and it seems to me that they have, it'll have to rely on word-of-mouth and if the public likes the movie, it will get that kind of publicity but that's good for the long run, not the quick rise to the number one spot for opening weekend.

Ashely Judd did a promotion for it on Entertainment Tonight a week or two ago, which is syndicated but appears on the CBS network at a decent hour where I am. Entertainment Tonight is fairly mainstream.

Also, there's a small advertisement for it in my newspaper, in Oklahoma City. Take heart! We want a steady flow of revenue. Whether or not it beats "The Beach" isn't important in the long run.
