sampler cd review #2
review of erno's cd sampler

I am definitely liking this cd. thanks a lot for making it and sending it to people. i especially like "submarine", and "kryst". the other song are growing on me. they are something else, in a good way though. i haven't heard anything like this before, well a little like it but this is really great. it has a really nice flow; it soothes.
alright.
the lesson: very pretty. i was thinking a bass line like b# b a g f# g d (first 4 notes played as 16th notes i think and f# as a half note, f# as an 8th, g as a half, and d as a whole)
would make it more full. just a thought i was playing along to it and it sounded nice.
the lyrics are really nice too.
3am: is that a keyboard in the background? yeah i can tell it is now... whatever it is it sounds good. it helps out the song's fullness. at first when i sort of skimmed the cd, i didn't really like your voice too much but it grew on me, i understand it more now.
sometimes: i am really relating to your lyrics, you are good at that. that acoustic guitar sounds really pretty too, its quick. the intro gets your attention too, the violin fits in there better than i would expect a violin to fit in this song.
snow: the name fits the music as well as the lyrics. the guitar is really hard to explain the sound...sounds like a clean grunge, i like it. i like the drums too. not too obnoxious but they are still rockin'.
sleep on your side: i had this song on when my friend came over she said it was really sweet and she wished she could get a guy who thinks like that. its a very beautiful song it makes me happy. i like at about 2 minutes through it picks up....great song.
satellite parade: intro sounds a little like nine inch nails, the guitar comes in and it adds a whole new feel to it. i like it a lot. it reminds me a lot of the good parts of when i used to trip on acid. in another perspective, it makes me think a lot it has that telling a story type of feel, like you leading me through the song. this is a perfect song to go driving around with on a lonely night.
sarah's desert: the lead guitar is "mysterious" seriously. is the you singing in the background? there aren't words for how cool that sounds. well i guess its beautiful in its own way.
the ray: this song is great. you backing yourself up sounds so nice. i think there could be more of it and it still wouldn't be to much.
plastic sun/crazy moon: this is my least favorite song so far. its still good, but it doesn't really catch me.
mistakes: again i am relating to the lyrics. the electric guitar in the background is nice.
"what now, little man?": a stronger vibrato on the guitar lead might be cool.
kryst: cant get enough of this song, everything is fits really really good. its been in my head all day. its really catchy from the intro and on. i dig it. it reminds me some of Scott Weiland, ever heard his solo album? its really techno and acoustic and experimental. you'd like it. its called 12 bar blues. not really blues though.
icicles: beautiful guitar. beautiful everything.
hazel: by this time in the cd, i am getting used to your style a lot more and it fits in really good. its getting late and i am tired my evaluations might be getting bad sorry about that.
fly a kite: this song makes me want to fall asleep. a lot of your music has the ability to control my mood. that's a good quality. i like the soft electric sounding drum set. and the solo singing in the ending.
devil on a bike: i like the quick drum solos "boom boom" i like it when music is broken up a little bit sometimes. the lyrics are good too. :don't take that ride: sounds like a warning label. in a good way, i'm not ripping on it at all.
cornflakes: sounds like a true story. hehe. i like it. i like the guitar tones too. i love the solo, it has a 1950's kinda thing. but you really got it to fit in there really well. it sounds nice and mellow too.
feel the bomb: i love the synth bass. i love the reverb echo type effect on your voice. "i really want ya want to go to california" that's an american dream nobody has really talked about to much. the rest of the lyrics make me think a lot, in a strange way. its a strange song, i like the organ/keyboard too; sounds like fire and rain mixed together.
amber fields: has that familiar feel to it. i like that. "don't you cry" seems like a classic expression it never gets old.
submarine: the intro grew on me i didn't like it until now. i love the rhythm guitar and bass. ...the whole song..i love it. its great to sing along to. i like how you put in the tambourine right after you talked abut it, that's really cool.
