cbgb 313 gallery show chat
a conversation between erno and his lighting director after a successful show supporting satellite parade. as you'll notice, the conversation, due to the nature of on-line chatting, jumps from topic to topic. (like a QT movie) look at it like a puzzle.
SHERRY: hey you...i was too lazy to go off line to compose you an e-mail so i was just replying yours!
SHERRY: which is good because here you are.
ERNO: thanks for everything
ERNO: you did an outstanding job
SHERRY: i can't tell you how terrific i thought you and kevin were last night.
ERNO: thanks
SHERRY: the audience was totally into "ERNO". i was so impressed by your stage performance.
ERNO: i thought it was a wonderful experience
ERNO: thanks again
SHERRY: now i kind of do wish blaise could have seen it...it was a great show.
SHERRY: you were awesome.
SHERRY: they lllloooovvvvveeeeddddd you!!
ERNO: did you read about how michelene loved the lights?
ERNO: do you want to do 3 songs together?
SHERRY: yes i did (i just got done reading and printing all of your e-mails).
ERNO: you can sing sleep...side
SHERRY: i would love to do some songs with you...i think we'll have a great time.
ERNO: do you like the idea of being part of a summer multi-act show?
SHERRY: i can't remember which song of yours sounds like it has synthesized flute in it, but when i was listening to your cd, over and over again, yesterday, i thought that you had a good song for a little flute interjection in there...do you recall which?
ERNO: michelene was ecstatic, and said to call her immediately....she was blown away
SHERRY: one sounds like it has electric winds in it...
ERNO: i'm not sure which song you're referring to
ERNO: is it on satellite parade?
SHERRY: i am sooooo happy that michelene loved it...you know, dave's true story is a tough act to follow and you just really brought down the house!
SHERRY: even the other bands that were waiting to play were totally digging your vibe.
SHERRY: i really enjoyed talking to M and julia too. i like them both very much actually.
ERNO: i felt very comfortable and CONFIDENT that we had complete control of the room
ERNO: julia's been growing on me a lot lately
SHERRY: which is cool, because i was feeling very anti-social, (as usual), and they helped me feel calm.
ERNO: m is a very spiritual person, and that comes across in her singing
SHERRY: my question is...did you and kevin like the lights? m is a goddess.
ERNO: that portion of the show was completely unrehearsed
ERNO: we LOVED the lights
SHERRY: everything was great...rehearsed or unrehearsed. you had a huge fan club!
SHERRY: including me.
ERNO: like i said in one of the e-mails, the show would've missed something without your thoughtful lighting
ERNO: m is going to be famous in a couple of years
SHERRY: i told mikel all about it. he just called me a little while ago...i told him he really missed something special last night.
ERNO: she's got the full package, and she writes her own stuff
SHERRY: he said his show in new hampshire was low energy and poor turnout and he didn't feel great about it. he should have stayed in new york to hear ERNO!
ERNO: what happened last night was me overcoming a HUGE hurdle
ERNO: it went way beyond music.....it was a do or die situation for me....that's why i was in another world last night
SHERRY: she does have the full package...i really believe she is a goddess. we women are, you know. i know it was a huge hurdle for you and i think i was as nervous for you as anybody, especially knowing how blaise made you feel about your singing.
ERNO: i proved to myself and new york city that i'm a contender
SHERRY: you already knew you were...did your bro enjoy?
SHERRY: did jodi have a great time.?
ERNO: now that i've found my voice (for real), i can sing any song in my rep.
ERNO: jodi had a great time
ERNO: she ended up filling out most of the audience (10 people)
SHERRY: that's good...how long did you guys hang out?
ERNO: we left right after the next band
SHERRY: the little fan on the lighting board ate 2 of my fingernails last night!
SHERRY: ouch!
ERNO: they were so loud, but i loved their music....a lot like THE DAMNED. the gallery became cbgb's omfug after our set SHERRY: and not only was dimmer 4 broken, but dimmer 8 wasn't working and had only 2 settings: on and off!
ERNO: i wondered what flew by my head last night....
ERNO: it was a fingernail or 2
SHERRY: ha ha! well, i'm glad i left...once i had accomplished taking care of erno...i wanted to leave on an up note and not get too mucked up in the crowds.
SHERRY: i wanted to go home to be alone with the experience.
SHERRY: and make pasta.
ERNO: i was trapped there because of the equipment and meet-and-greet logistics
ERNO: we're a great team
ERNO: hopefully you'll do lights for the summer show
SHERRY: i know. you don't think i abandoned you did you. i mean, you had your "people" there and all ;-)!
SHERRY: of course i'll do your lights (except if i am on vacation!!) gosh, i hope not!!!
ERNO: to be honest, it's always been a little overwhelming after a set....i have to stay focused on packing up in an organized manner....i don't want to hang and talk to anybody
ERNO: sherry, i gotta go
SHERRY: i can't find you...where did you go
ERNO: i'm here
SHERRY: oh, okay! talk to you soon! you went blank for a minute.
