musical saw session review
i wrote this to kevin, my engineer and producer, during the final-mixing stage of the "musical saw" record. i had just listened to rough mixes, and this was how i felt...
hi kev,
this music sounds simply BEAUTIFUL. the singing, playing, cello, recording, etc... are perfect. i think that piece of equipment gave you some extra cards to play with final mixing. i can hear the improvement. i love the mixes so much. i listened on headphones, on pc speakers, and tonight i'll listen to them on my stereo. i'm sure they'll sound great. i'm looking forward to possibly finishing this coming weekend. it'll be bittersweet not having to touch the music again, but we should get the mastering scheduled asap. we can master as soon as early next week. i would love to go to florida with a mastered cd in my hand to play for my family. let me know asap if james can do it on the short-term for the same money as before. also let me know if this coming weekend is COMPLETELY available. we could totally finish the final mixing.
here are some reminders for this coming weekend:
1) get a megaphone
2) buy about 10 plastic take-up reels
3) get the 1/2" machine looked at this week if possible
4) have the honeymooners tape handy
5) rent that piece of equipment that you used this past weekend again (we can return it monday)
6) call james asap and find out if he'll do it for $1,000 and when this record's sounding amazing. after mastering, we should take a little time off, and maybe think of completing the cd packaging, and the the erno homepage.
i would like to set up a show in nyc and albany for early may or june. the shows can be 2 weekends in a row, and we'll do the same set at both shows. rehearsals should take a bout a month, so march can be a month's vacation from the music. i would like to play acoustic at both shows. maybe we can experiment with using the art preamps for my voice and acoustic guitar??? i sing much better with acoustic. all in all, good job. let's put this record to bed, so we can rest assured with 3 full-length albums of original music at our disposal.
