"magic in the studio"
with state-of-the-art studios, musical experiences can quickly become unmusical. the weekend referred to below was the cello sessions for "plastic sun/crazy moon"...
hi kevin,
i just wanted to let you know how magical this past weekend was. the 3 of us made a great team. i wanted to thank you especially for keeping the entire weekend a very MUSICAL experience. if there were technical glitches, they weren't felt by me or michelle. i think you underestimate your abilities sometimes. it takes a gifted person to work with that specific equipment and be able to talk about the PARTS, and not the process of recording those parts. as for "plastic sun/crazy moon," it seems that we're out-doing ourselves with each record. this isn't necessary for quality work, but it seems to drastically change the SOUND of each record. these 3 records have distinct sounds, and as for our discussion of mixing songs up, i think that aspect will be watered down. as for the finances, don't worry. if you pay the 120+ for the rental this weekend, it'll wash-out what you owe me for michelle. we're back to zero as far as i'm concerned. as for the next step for this record, you should really test out the 1/2"machines or get them fixed (we'll pay). OR we could rent a 1/2" machine like we did before. the problem/advantage with that is that we're forced to mix everything at once. it worked for the last record. whatever. aside from recording minimum tracks for "nearly oblivious," all recording is finished. i'll re-sing anything you want. i've been getting better. i would like to be done with the final mixing, at least, by the first week in march. that gives us 5 weeks or so to finish. i know we can do it.
things needed for final mixing:
1) 1/2" tape machine
2) art pre-amps for any recording
3) the honeymooners marathon tape for reply
thanks & see ya,
eron
