"gigs...who needs them?"
this shows my disappointment with booking a show in 1999...

hi kevin,

i'm a little disappointed in micheline and how difficult she is to get ahold of. i left a message using your name and # today (thursday) around 4pm, and the barmaid was a little snotty. i told her that i want to CONFIRM october 10th 8pm, and that i'm not TRYING to get a gig. my goals are as follows: 1) get this gig confirmed and do it!!!!! this may require more phone tag, but it'll be worth it. please call her tomorrow (friday). keep calling her until you get ahold of her. 2) try to land a gig at the knitting factory opening for another band or something. we'll have to establish a contact there, send that person a cd or 2, and follow-up. hopefully, this person will love the cd and give us a slot. (if that triple-acoustic guitar piece-of-crap can play there, so can we) all in all, depending on micheline's response (and/or attitude), we may never want to play there again. or maybe we WILL want to. the deciding factor will be whether we get some kind of rapport, where she is easier to get ahold of, or will return calls. we have to have the feeling she WANTS to work with us, and that if we don't hear from her, she must be extremely busy. our sound has gotten substantially better, where we may want to play places like the sidewalk cafe. we also have a substantial batch of songs to choose from. we don't need to have special guests, unless we play a place like the knitting factory, where something like that would pay-off. the relationship we have with richard in albany is the kind of relationship we need from our nyc clubs. you can almost hear his smile when we call him. i just wanted to vent..... micheline reminds me of blaise or james......someone who has "good intentions", but when it comes down to it, she's an insincere motherfucker!!!

see ya,
