michelle's letter to erno
she's the cellist...

Hi Tom,

I really enjoy working with you guys too, and I like your songs and esthetic. Don't worry about the money, its my fault for not communicating more clearly. I hate the subject as well. The reason you may have sensed a little confusion on my part was that I thought we were talking about per day when we were originally talking about money. But really, its okay, you bought me lunch and transportation and I had a good time on top of everything. Before having a marriage and kid, time and money were less of an issue, but now when I work it means Chris has to stay home, or we have to get a baby sitter, so we both have to have a minimum for most situations out of respect for each other's time. It is also our livelihood, which is yet another matter.

But for this time don't worry, it was my mistake, and if you can help with pressing some CDs, that will be very valuable to me, and it will all work out fine. Lets see, my favorite songs I think are Sigh for its Zen beauty, Find My Homes, even if the cello part didn't quite make sense...Plastic Sun, for its beatlesque nonsensicalness...I like the sounds you experiment with and go for. I think it is the way you trust your instinct, and the way you guys let accidents happen and remain on tape. I also liked Who am I and The Lesson.

If there were any I wasn't as interested in they might be Devil Bike, and Woman Loves a man who cries. Lyrically they didn't seem as succinct as some of the simpler, clearer songs, which for me are your forte. The socks were spectacular. Too bad you can't record a smell on tape.

Talk to you soon and thanks again,

Michelle
