Metal Gear Solid Two Storyline

Metal Gear Solid Two takes place a two years after MGS.  Ocelot, as you know, had the optical disk filled with information on Metal Gear Rex and has apparently sold it off to the highest bidders and now Metal Gears (meaning more than one!) are being mass produced, which means that Metal Gear is no longer a "special" weapon.  So once again our hero Solid Snake is forced to deal with these new threats.  This time his battle against the dangerous mecha machine will take him from Alaska to New York to battle the newest member of the Metal Gear line, Metal Gear Ray!

This is what I heard happens in the beginning (Paraphrased by me.  The information comes via PlayStation 100% Independent Magazine).  Snake bungee jumps off the George Washington Bridge and onto a US Marine vessel that is said to have the new Metal Gear on it.  It is Snake's mission to confirm the rumors and NOT to harm any of the Marines on the boat (one of those Marines could be my boyfriend!).  Sounds pretty easy, huh?  Well it would be, if it wasn't for Ocelot and his terrorist group, who shows up, takes over the vessel, starts killing indiscriminately, and mecha-naps Metal Gear.  What will Snake do???

Played the demo and I can't stop drooling!!!

If you wanna know what happens in the demo (At least what I saw, plus what was mentioned in this months PSM) then read on.  If you'd rather wait until you play it yourself or until the game comes out, the I guess you should leave now.  

Okay, in the beginning of the demo, you see the George Washington Bridge and the camera pans to Snake and all these cars are whizzing past him and he's walking and smoking in the rain, wearing a dreary gray poncho.  The names roll up and finally after about a minuet or so of Snake ambling across the bridge, he removes his poncho, clicks on the stealth gear, and he takes off running.  Finally he jumps off the side of the bridge and plummets down to an oncoming boat.  Once you're on the boat you talk to good old Otacon and he tells you that the stealth gear is broken from your fall and Snake proclaims that he wasn't really going to use it anyway (the hell if you weren't!!!).  At this point I kinda missed out on some things because one of the store clerks was talking to me, but I did hear a couple of familiar names being tossed about, like Naomi and Mei Ling.  Apparently they all work for Philanthropy, an anti-Metal Gear fringe group.  Recognized by the UN, but more then likely not getting any real funding.  Anyways.  Snake takes a look around and he see there are a lot of civilians on this boat.  Civilians huh?  That shouldn't be too difficult to handle.  Avoid all the civilians and find Metal Gear...  Really simple stuff!!!  However this wonderful yachting excursion turns deadly.  

Our old pal Ocelot (Who has both his hands...  Just thought you'd like to know that) is watching Snake from a helicopter above and suddenly you see all the unsuspecting civilians and getting killed off one by one thanks to Ocelots' lackeys.  It's a really gruesome scene.  Snake knows there's something amiss but the show must go on, so finally after about five minutes of talking you gain control of Snake.  The object of the demo is to find where Metal Gear is being stored on this boat.  From what I could gather, Metal Gear is somewhere on the bottom of the ship of fools.

Guys, I'm telling you.  I played about five minuets of this before my feet said "Uh...  We need a rest!", but what I did actually play it was great!!!  There are some things I have to get use to when I do finally get SOL.  The action button is the triangle button???  And I can't remember exactly what I did wrong, but it was something with the dart gun.  I kept making Snake shoot his darts when I didn't mean to.  But those things will be easily remedied in time and with future game play.  I did get a chance to shoot in first person mode and I can say this with such pride, cause I've never done this before, even when I played the very first Metal Gear game.  I did not get caught once the entire time I played!!!  I'm so very proud of myself for that!
