SUMMARY: Giles thinks about his travels.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own them, I think everyone knows that. Joss
Whedon, Warner Bros. & Mutant Enemy, etc. do. I only wanted to borrow the characters for a minute or two.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hey Trace, why couldn't I do this before? The lyrics for the song, "All My Roads," were written by Karen Taylor-Good and Annette Cotter. It's sung by Collin
Raye, and can be found on his CD "The Walls Came Down." I hope they don't mind that I used them.
Giles tried to keep his mind from drifting while he drove home from the library.
His thoughts were on the beauty that entered his life.
He knew he could never tell her how he felt, he didn't know how.
The lyrics from the song on the radio caught his attention.
Looking back from where I stand tonight,
I wouldn't change a thing about my life
wrong turns I had to take back in those
crazy years
Could not have been mistakes if they
brought me here...
Cause all my roads have led me to
this night, this love I share with you
Though the road was never smooth
life had made me someone who
could be right someone for you
He pulled over, turning the volume up.
It's true, his life had been filled with bumpy roads, and other things he wanted to leave in his past.
I don't regret a single broken heart
that taught me what love is and what
it's not
Someone must have planned
our two paths would cross
I couldn't see it then, but
I was never lost
Someone...
If it wasn't for Buffy...
If it wasn't for Sunnydale...
The Hellmouth...
He would have never met her.
Cause all my roads have led me to
this night, this love I share with you
Though the road was never smooth
life had made me someone who
could be right someone for you
He only wished he could tell her...
How much he loved her...
How he felt truly blessed by her presense in his life...
Detours, Dead ends, endless
explorations, you were my
only destination
This song was telling him to act.
Could he...
Checking his mirror, he pulled back into traffic. Making sure it was clear, he made a u-turn and headed back to the library.
He hoped she hadn't gone too far.
His heart was pounding in his chest, he was going to tell her, he had to.
Craning his neck forward as he neared the school, he was looking for her.
Cause all my roads have led me to
this night, this love I share with you
Though the road was never smooth
life had made me someone who
could be right someone for you
There she was...
He felt a smile appear on his lips.
He pulled in front of her.
Turning the engine off, he got out of the car, closing the door behind him.
"Oh... hi Giles. Is something wrong?"
"Um, no... no it's not. I... I was wondering, could... could I speak with you, please?" he asked, as he walked towards her.
"Sure, no problem," she said as met him half-way.
"Yes... Willow, there's something I need to tell you..."
Cause all my roads have led me to
this night, this love I share with you
Though the road was never smooth
life had made me someone who
could be right someone for you
The End
