The Difference Between Vancouver and Quebec

North America and Europe! That’s what I thought at first sight. But you will find the difference between Europe and Quebec city or Montreal if you see the atmosphere carefully.

Basically the sidewalk and wall in a row of houses and streets in Quebec are made of bricks. You can see many beautiful churches and individual houses that are painted colorfully. Each house has stairs for fashion, too. Downtown was also big and it was like one of the places in Tokyo (it’s much smaller than Tokyo, but bigger than Vancouver).

As you must have already noticed, food in Vancouver is similar to in the U.S.A. But Quebec has its own food, which I real like. Maple desserts are also very good! (sometimes too sweet, though). You will be crazy about desserts if you have a sweet tooth. One of the foods, called poutine, is French fries covered with cheese and gravy. It’s a little greasy, but good. People in Quebec mainly eat beans and soup. Of course, chicken and beef as well. Even main dishes often taste sweet, but it’s really delicious and good to eat with wine.

Both cities are multicultural, so you can enjoy Japanese, Mexican and Italian food as well.

In Vancouver, you will see very many Japanese restaurants.

Are you hesitating to study English in Montreal? No problem. I noticed that English is often spoken among the people, so you can learn French and English. Most people are very kind and happy-go-lucky.

One of the problems is the weather. Vancouver has a long rainy season, and in Quebec, it’s freezing. (sometimes negative 40 degrees). But summer is very nice in both of the cities. It’s dry in Vancouver and humid in Quebec.

As I said before, both of the cities are multicultural. Many people in Vancouver are Asian, but in Quebec, I didn’t see many Asian people except Chinese.( I heard that there is a barrier between Quebecois and Chinese. But it’s a mystery to me…)

I hope you could learn something about Vancouver and Quebec. If you go to eastern Canada, you will enjoy the different taste.
