You
like drinking beer?
Try
Dutch Beer!
All of
you have heard of Heineken, a great Dutch beer, but did you know there
are more. Have you heard of Amstel, Grolsch, Brand, Oranjeboom or Dommelsch?
You can even buy these beers here in Vancouver. When I came here to Vancouver
I soon realized that there is no such thing as a beer-drinking culture.
To enter in a bar or club you need to be nineteen and the people don't
drink only beer but they drink orona”, Smirnoff ice and Tequila.
The beer that you can get from the tap is usually a lager beer without
a smell and a boring taste. If you want to taste the Dutch beers go to
one of the pubs on Granville street or go to the Cambie pub.
Heineken
In December 1863 Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought the brewery Hooiberg”
and Heineken was founded. In 1933 just three days after the prohibition
ended Heineken exported their beer to the United States. It was a giant
success and nowadays it is the most successful import beer in the US.
Today Heineken is an international company that even has its own Canadian
division-which you can visit at www.heineken.com/canada.
They distribute and sell Heineken, Amstel light and Murphy’ Irish
Stout here in Canada. All of the Heineken Brands are brewed in the Netherlands
and exported into Canada. Heineken is the second largest Brewery in the
world and produces more than 80 million hectoliters under the supervision
of Heineken. Heineken is the most popular beer in the Netherlands because
of its beautiful taste that will never bore you. It's the ideal party
beer.
Laughed about it.
Grolsch
For almost four centuries, Grolsch brewers have been making a beer that
is famous all around the globe for its flavour and character. Besides
malt, hops and water, Grolsch brewers use a fourth vital ingredient: time.
It takes several weeks to complete the perfectly natural brewing process,
which makes Grolsch beer so special. The company has its origins in the
eastern part of the Netherlands. From here, Grolsch exports its beer to
more than 50 countries. Grolsch Premium Lager is available in various
packaging, including the unique swing top bottle, a glassblower's masterpiece.
It was back in 1897 when Grolsch first began selling its beer in these
distinctive bottles with their swing top stoppers. Grolsch beer is a beer
you will love or hate because of its really bitter and special taste.
If you want to find out more about Grolsch go to http://www.grolsch.com/.
Amstel
You people from Europe will all know Amstel because it's a major sponsor
of the UEFA Champions League. Amstel is the cheap beer in The Netherlands
it's like Heineken a real drinking beer but to my opinion not as good
as Heineken but still tasteful. Amstel is named after the river Amstel
that flows through Amsterdam. The river was used to cool the beer. Today
Amstel is part of the Heineken Company and is exported worldwide. If you
want to find out more about Amstel check http://www.amstel.com/.
Brand
If you ever go to the Netherlands you should try this superb beer. It
is one of the oldest pilsner beers, the beer is bitter and strong but
still tasteful and delicious. That means that the alcohol level is higher
and you can hold it longer without losing its great taste. The brewery
was founded in 1795 and since then the beer is famous. Brand is the pride
of Limburg a province of the Netherlands. www.brand.nl
This
is a little bit of background information about Dutch beers, but even
if you didn't like the article, you will love the beers. Enjoy your
