Selections from a comparison reviews of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

We all know about the remakes some released and unreleased. Dawn of the Dead, The Ring, Pete Jackson's King Kong, The Toolbox Murders, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What the Hell?! Who is going to have the nerve to tamper on sacred grounds like that? Who would think that they could make that movie better then it already was? Did Hooper make a bad film? Hell no. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a perfect and classic movie the way it is. I'll tell you what they were thinking about the whole time in post, the same thing anyone thinks about today.money. It's really sad that no one can think of an original idea anymore and we have to result to remaking good films. If I were a filmmaker, which I plan to be one day, and I forced to film a remake, I would find the most obscure and unknown piece of shit I could muscle up and remake that. That way the audience goes to see your movie and you blow them away with the massive upgrade. Whereas remaking TCM you have people leaving saying. "yeah it was good, but I like the original better".-drew

It's simple really, MTV Fan Boy Douche Bag (MTVGFBDB) desperately wants Classics of his own. Movies he can say "I saw that in the theatres on opening night blah blah blah" Unfortunately, they just don't make them like that anymore. Once again...sucks to be MTVGFBDB!! Nowadays Hollywood controls everything you see in theatres. Small companies just can't or don't release HORROR movies as widely as Hollywood, if at all. So, MTVGFBDB is for the most part, stuck with big budget SAFE HORROR movies gauranteed to make money. In order to do that, make money that is, Hollywood must appeal to a broad spectrum of people. Disturbing or creeping them the fuck out is..OUT OF THE QUESTION, and by that I mean really DISTURBING and CREEPING THEM THE FUCK OUT,not EEK I'm scared or Eeuuu thats gross. Not by having a Ghost haunt a VHS tape. Not by having Jennifer Love Hewitt run around in the rain, and certainly NOT by having Matt Lillard appear in any horror movie....anywhere....EVVVVERR!! (although thats the one thing about the New School that DISTURBS and CREEPS ME OUT!!) No,I'm talking prolonged Rape Scenes, Cannibals getting their grub on in full view of the camera, zombies macking on some entrails, old people and babies being axed to death, invalids meeting their maker at the hands of a Chainsaw wielding maniac etc etc etc. These movies are long gone. Left in their stead are countless sequels, ripoffs and remakes birthed from the Denero grubbing womb of the Hollywood Hit Machine. MTVGFBDB welcome to the POINT!! Your generations movies, while entertaining for the most part, aren't horrifying, disturbing, creepy or even mildly distressing. WHY? Because every movie you hold near and dear to your heart has either.... BEEN DONE BEFORE, BETTER...or.... IS BASICALLY A RIPOFF OF AN OBSCURE OLD SCHOOL HORROR FLICK!! -sam

Simply put the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the greatest horror/exploitation movie ever made. It's nasty, violent and unrelenting in it's mission to shock and revolt which in this old school horror fan's humble opinion is what the horror genre is all about. You see Horror is not supposed to be bright, epic, funny or even well filmed,no, it's supposed to be dirty, vile, angry and stained with more blood than a menstruating teenage girls panty drawer. It's a genre filled with so much more than merely jump scares and spooky atmosphere as well. Bottom line it's about being disgusted, shocked, disturbed and above all else horrified, after all it's called the Horror genre not the Scary genre for Chrissakes! -sam The fact of the matter is you cannot remake a classic. It can't be done. You'll notice in the remake all of the camera angles and shots were identical to that of the original. You know why? Because you cant do it any better, that's why. The movie was even filmed in 1973. Why? Because there is no time in history that this movie would be more effective. -drew
