SHAUGH BRIDGE This is the wooden footbridge over the River Plym at Shaugh Bridge. The original old stone road bridge is a short way downstream. This area is a popular location for hashes as it is heavily wooded with plenty of tracks and trails, including the disused track bed of the old Plymouth & Dartmoor Railway (later the Great Western Railway), which was in use from 26 September 1823 to 5 March 1956. On the west bank of the river valley stands the Dewerstone and further upstream is Cadover Bridge. Above the valley the trees give way to open moorland. The Shaugh Bridge area is owned by the National Trust which allows unrestricted access to the public.
