THE DEWERSTONE The Dewerstone lies on a spur of land above the gorge of the River Plym where it is met by the River Meavy. It consists of a number of rocky outcrops, the largest of which is over 150 feet high. The rocks are popular with rock climbers who find it a good place for a dangle. Drake H3 hashes often take in the rocks with sawdust being laid on ledges up the cliffs. Oh alright then, there are footpaths winding around the rocks - you didn't really believe we do that, what kind of hash do you think we are?!! (On second thoughts, don't answer that). The rocks take their name from Dewer, a demonic huntsman, who is said to roam the moor at night with a pack of hell hounds searching for victims - a bit like hashing, really.
