Our interview with rising band Seafood. Having blasted this year's festivals and now working on the new album with a new lineup, the only way is up. 1) So what's the latest news from the Seafood camp?
David: We are currently writing and rehearsing in our newly built studio called Neat Science Labs. Its very cosy and full of egg boxes.
2) How is new member Kev P settling in? Any initiation
tests performed???
D: He is doing fine. He is very Tall and has the same name as Kevin, but thats all plus points as far as iam concerned. He is also able to play the theme music from the snooker championships and he used to be a catalogue model. So basically all is great. He was made to fix a door to the studio, when this was complete we made him fire ping pong balls out of his.....well ya can guess the rest but anywayz he is now officially in.
3) David, are you by any chance to related to Crispin
Hunt (ex-Longpigs), becuase the resemblance is
uncanny??!! (See attachment)
D: Um No. Should i be offended? Lets hope that any resemblance stops on the fact we both have big honkers( I mean noses). It has to be said that i think they are utter crap as a musical force for two reasons 1. they slagged us off in a single reviews nme section. 2. they are crap. and they are currently residing in the ''where are they now '' section of life. Hope they are not friends of yours.
4) You've toured with a variety of excellent bands
(Jetplane Landing, My Vitriol etc etc). Any funny
moments you care to embarrass them with???
D: when we toured with Jet plane there were far too many embarrasing moments. they are good and funny people. Mishaps include the drummer breaking his ribs in a shopping cart in Manchester, naked tennis, Mr T on stage, Cahir being punched in the face, Raife punching Cahir in the face and most importantly raife climbing into my bunk and asking for rock n roll comfort?! I have many more tales including many My Vitriol stories, but they are far too sordid for such a young publication.
5) Describe each of your bandmates in one word or
phrase?
D: Caroline is a ''law unto herself'' Kevin H is ''bionic'' Kevin P is ''majestic''
6) Which song do you feel best describes you?
D: Cherub Rock by the smashing pumpkins?!
7) What's your poison?
D: white russians (vodka/Kulha and milk)
8) Was there ever a time when you've stopped and
though "yeah, we've made it"?
D: About 3 seconds after we fly and land somewhere safe. i hate flying. But in answer to the question i think it would be when we sold out Ulu and then 7 months later we sold out the electric ballroom. No hype, No trend, No Nme, No gossip just good music and a great fanbase......god we are boring!
9) What/who were your influences as a musician?
D; Films influence me a lot. i watch loads of movies every week and buy dvds whenever i can. I think Ferris Buellers day off had a profound effect on me as a kid. Life moves pretty fast if you don't stop and look around every once in a while you might miss it.
I love Neil young (not in the biblical sense), James taylor, sonic youth, pixies, fugazi,palace, Sebadoh, GVSB, and right now iam going thru this wierd foo fighters faze where i find myself playing the colour and shape album over and over again. Just love it at the moment. Duran duran and madonna, Daft Punk, Radioactive Man, Dr octagon, Public Enemy and pretty much every disco hit there was. I love Disco..Punk sucked!
10) Aaaaand finally, we ask everyone this so don't
panic (Or listen to Coldlplay kids, there's a health
warning for ya). Do you have a special message for the
donkey himself?
D: sugar lump or frosted apples kind mammal sir?
