PRECIOUS MEMORIES-HOW THEY LINGER
HOW THEY EVER FLOOD MY SOUL

717 East 7th Street
Muscatine, Iowa
Where the blooms fell off of the Catalpa trees and we made necklaces. Where the nights were sultry and we sat on the porch to catch a breeze.
Where we roller skated up and down the hill in the summer and sledded down the street in the winter.
Where mom hung her laundry in the house in the winter time on Mondays and when you came home from school there was a smell of a mixture of fresh clothing and home made soup.
IN THE STILLNESS OF THE THE MIDNIGHT
Our Porch...
Mom, as I have seen her sit hundreds of times waiting for Dad or one of us kids.My sisters, Doreen and Judy in the summer on the porch.
The kids in the neighborhood on the steps, just before someone said "Lets play telephone"
My sis Doreen and her famous grin on the front porch with my dog Brownie.
.The music that you are hearing is calliope, music we heard from our porch on many a summers night

We could hear the carnivals on the 4th of July from the riverfront and hear the fireworks.
We listened to the "hillbilly" music from our neighbors across the street that strummed their guitars and played harmonicas on still summer nights.
PRECIOUS SACRED SCENES UNFOLD
This was a wonder of all wonders for us!
our very first car! I remember trips to Colorado in this car. Oh, how wonderful it was! Even with me in the front seat in the middle, my head on dad's lap and my feet on mom's. The heat from the engine blew up into my face as we traveled through Iowa past Boys Town in Nebraska. And then on to the covered wagon in Kearney with their fresh cherry juice cold and tart. How dad would speed up on the straight aways and slow down for the curves. A two lane highway all the way. Then Colorado. Who would be the first to see the mountains? There were some things that were yes, precious memories.
The music that you are hearing is calliope, music we heard from our porch on many a summers night.
