In Memory of Gunner

Lord Gunner Flush, JH, Certified Therapy Dog

June 12, 1988 to August 12, 2000

It was a very sorrowful morning, Saturday, August 12, when Great Guns lost his battle to liver failure, surrounded and held by those who loved him most.

Gun had a passion for life, for people, for love. Whether with his family and friends or visiting patients in Alzheimer care homes, his mission was to please and to be loved in return. A gentle dog by nature, but yet with a passion to hunt and retrieve by breeding, he displayed that wonderful temperament and personality we so love in the English Springer Spaniel.

Gun was seven years old when adopted by us. The past five years with Gun in our lives were remarkably warm and adventurous. He made us laugh, and in the end, made us cry. We knew a tremendously loving and caring dog for a short time. But, it was better than not knowing him at all.

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."

"The Once Again Prince" from "Separate Life Times" by Irving Townsend

We miss you Gun. Happy hunting in your peace!
