Some also ask
why a loving GOD would allow so much evil to abound in the Earth. We are told
in I Kings 9:8-9 “Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and to this
house? And they shall answer, because they forsook the Lord their God”. (Also 2
Chronicles 7:21-22)
Our
generation is not the first to ask thus. “Why do the heathen rage, and the
people imagine a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1) “Why standest thou afar off, O Lord?
why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?” (Psalms 10:1) “Awake, why
sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hidest thou
thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is
bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help,
and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.” (Psalms 44:23-26) “O God, why hast thou
cast us off for ever?” (Psalms 74:1)
GOD gave us
free choice. (Genesis 3:1-6) HE allows us to choose the path we will take. To
step in and stop the carnage would be to deny us our free choice. HE will not
do this until the time is right.
“Fret not
thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of
iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the
green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land,
and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall
give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also
in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy
righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord,
and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in
his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from
anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For
evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall
inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea,
thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek
shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of
peace. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his
teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.”
(Psalms 37:1-13)
“And then shall
that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his
mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:” (2 Thessalonians
2:8)
Which side
will you be on? “Choose you this day whom ye will serve” (Joshua 24:15)
