"A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory."
Who among you has an unforgiving heart? Who is it that holds a grudge? Can you not forgive the wrongs done to you by others? I would ask a question of those who can fit themselves into one or all of these categories. Have you never wronged another? Have you never hurt someone (whether it be intentional or accidental)? Have you never asked someone to forgive you?
Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure, I am clean and without sin?"
There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.
If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone…
When they sin against you-for there is no one who does not sin-…
And if they have a change of heart…
And repent and plead with you…
Forgive them who have sinned against you;
Forgive all the offenses they have committed against you
Since you cannot truthfully hold yourself pure & blameless, it is only right and fair that you forgive those who ask it of you. We are to follow the example of the LORD, who forgives all who ask His pardon, by forgiving all who ask pardon of us.
God…pardons sin and forgives transgression…
does not stay angry forever but delights to show mercy
His mercy extends from generation to generation
God is rich in mercy
If we cannot pardon others who offend us, can we expect to be forgiven? Do you wish to be forgiven by the same standards by which you forgive others? If you can answer no to either or both of these questions, it is time to examine your heart and perhaps to change your standards of forgiveness.
My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent.
It is the LORD who judges me.
Even if you feel your sins have been forgiven, and your conscience is clear, that does not give you license to judge other. Remember the sins that have been forgiven and therefore be loving and compassionate to others for that reason alone, that they also may be forgiven.
