"But if any have caused grief … So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. Wherefore I bessech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of uou, whether ye be obedient in all things. To whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;" - II Corinthians 2:5-10
Do you feel betrayed? Hurt? Wronged? Do you feel this wrong was done unknowingly or intentionally? No matter how you have been treated, GOD asks us to forgive. Have you betrayed, hurt, or wronged someone? Did you do it unknowingly or intentionally? No matter, GOD asks that you be forgiven. Ask for that forgiveness. "A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city; and their contentions are like the bars of a castle." - Proverbs 18:19 Has someone you thought to be your friend offended you? Have you hardened you heart to him? Remember the words of GOD and make peace with that person if possible. If you are truly unable to make peace, at least forgive him in your heart and do not retaliate against him. "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." - Matthew 5:44 Pray for those who do you wrong, or you have wronged, whether it be mistakenly or otherwise. Forgive them in you heart that you may be forgiven. "And forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors." - Matthew 6:12 "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." - Matthew 6:14-15; Mark 11:25-26 In the same manner you give forgiveness, will forgiveness be returned to you. If you forgive grudgingly, you will grudgingly be forgiven. If you cannot forgive, you cannot be forgiven. But if you freely forgive, you will be freely forgiven. "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you; And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." - Epbesians 4:31-32 Go to the person whether you feel you have been wronged or you have wronged them. Talk things over. Perhaps you have been mistaken to their intent. Perhaps you will find that they have also been mistaken. Show your willingness to forgive and to be forgiven. 'Moreover if thy brother shall trespass agaimst thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alonep if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established." - Matthew 18:15-16 If that person will not hear you, take 1 or 2 persons with you as witnesses and talk things over. Perhaps those with you will see the solution clearer. "Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying I repent; thou shall forgive him." - Luke 17:3-4 Let us pray together. "LORD soften our hearts towards those we feel have wronged us, let us forgive them so we ourselves may be forgiven. Let not strife rule our hearts, but rather the Love of almighty GOD. Who gave His Son that we might be forgiven and to forgive others. In whose name we pray. Amen." |

Make Pancakes For God Submitted by Eileen Dahley |

Six year old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor. He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.
Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting
very bad. He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove, (and he didn't know how the stove worked!).
Suddenly he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and sticky. And just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him. Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process. That's how God deals with us.
We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess. Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend or we can't stand our job or our health goes sour. Sometimes we just stand there in tears
because we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even though some of our mess gets all over Him. But just because we might mess up, we can't stop trying
to "make pancakes," for God or for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right, and then they'll be glad we tried…
"He that covers his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy." - Proverbs 28:13 "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." - Isaiah 1:18 "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. - Isaiah 55:7 "… and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed…" - James 5:15-16 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." -I John 1:9 |
