Every once in a while you come across something, which is both amusing and educational. The following article from Dr. GR Collett of Jerusalem Ministries International as reported HaY'Did Learning Center falls into this category. We thought you might enjoy it...
"Why in Judaism are men required to attend the Synagogue and women are not?" "Who started the Fall"? "The Serpent, Eve, Adam or God"? The two mind sets of logic and the three kinds of truth are an important part understanding the Biblical evidences so I must relate those first. The two kinds of mental Logic are 1) form and 2) function. Form comes from the Greek Hellenistic values of "how does something LOOK". While Function is "how does something WORK". Probably every mind in the world has a measure of each but each individual mind is normally predominate to one or the other, not both. But in the Western world the predominance is normally to "Form" while the Mid-East, Semitic mindset is predominately on the "Function" side of logic. This means there is a very great importance of understanding to be found in the Genesis account of the "Fall" (or all of the Bible) by asking the question, "What are the functions of every event in relationship to the whole"? The second issue of "the Kind of Truth" is then as important. What are the three kinds of truth? First there is the repetition of the "truth" whether by legal or scientific evidences. The Bible is "Legal" in that it is written evidences. By its own definition it states, "In the mouth of two or three witnesses is a thing established". The Bible is then clear when it is repetitious concerning "truth". The second establishment of a truth from Scriptures is when "something", some information or fact, is stated only once in the complete writing of the whole collection of text. The last and most dangerous way of establishment of truth from the Scriptures is where something is not said at all, but it is implied because of everything else that is said! If we must, without doubt, be extremely careful where something is said only once (by it not being in contradiction with any other Scriptures) then we must be even more careful with that which is "implied". With the two logics and three kinds of truth in mind let me ask this question and from the question then look at the Genesis account of the Fall of Adam and Eve. Question, "Why in Judaism are men required to attend the Synagogue and women are not"? The answer lays in "Who started the Fall"? The Evidences: God gave commandments to Adam found in verse 16 & 17 of chapter two of Genesis. In the next verse God states it is not good for man to be alone so we can therefore deduct Eve was not created or present in verses16 & 17. We next look at Chapter three where Eve states to the serpent in verse three, "you shall not eat of the fruit of the tree nor touch it". This creates a problem because God did not say to Adam that it could not be touched, Chapter 2 verses 16 & 17, nor anywhere else. But, Eve related the "do not touch" as something God had said! Neither in translations nor the Hebrew is there an indication that this, "do not touch", is something given to Adam by God. Eve did not think it up "on her own" and it was not the "serpent's" idea. Where did she get the "do not touch" as relating that "God said it" from? If God came at a later timing, after telling Adam the fruit of "that" tree could not be eaten, and then proceeded to tell Eve an addition, then the "dominion" of Adam would be in question and God would be considered as not being truthful when giving Adam authority. No, the conclusion (which is agreement with I Timothy 2:14 where it is stated that, Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression", meaning also that the "transgression" was already there) is Adam added to what God said! Adam told Eve not to touch the Tree, which meant Adam understood all that was occurring in the dialog with the serpent. Adam was not deceived! This then agrees with the statement that after eating of the fruit Eve turned to her husband, Adam, with her, and he did eat (verse 6, chapter 3). Check the Hebrew, any of you who do not want to agree, as Adam was with Eve the whole time of the conversation with the serpent! Adam could have stopped the whole episode at any time but did not as he had already started the "Fall" by "adding" to God's Word (What does it say in the book of Revelation?)! The last statement of Genesis verse six is "and he did eat"! Adam was not deceived, he knew as he started the whole process by lying about what God had said! Eve being deceived then gave to her husband who was standing right beside her and he did eat. He needed no explanation, discussion, argument, or change of understanding. He just took and ate! This is why in Judaism men are commanded to go to Synagogue in order to learn how to be and share as a spiritual leader to the woman! This is also why men have difficulty at times responding to spiritual values but women have a desire for them!
