KLIK

What is Klik?

The term Klik/Click software refers to products made by Clickteam, who are famous for their creations such as AMOS and STOS for the old amiga/atari computers, and Klik n play, Click n create, The games factory and Multimedia fusion on PC, along with Jamagic, which is different from those programs in a way (because it requires programming in a java-like language). Klik allows you to make all kinds of 2D sprite-based games quickly and easily, from breakout and space invaders like games, to platformers, to top-down driving ones, even to RTS and limited 3D games, though of course making something decent is another matter (the default engines for platforming and driving games are stunningly bad, for example XD, and need modification to work well). The klik interface coudnt be simpler, first you make a 'Condition', where the game checks if something is happening, ie two things are touching, a counter is at a certain number, or a key is being pressed, and then an 'Event', which tells the game what to do about it. Most of my game projects have been/will be made in Klik, as you can see XD

What will I need to play these games?

My main Klik program, Multimedia fusion, has an install maker which includes all the needed files for the game in it, however I forgot to use it for most of these games XD (well, a lot of them are games factory ones which I re-saved XD), so ive included essential files here:

DLL Pack

This includes two DLL files, put them in your C:/windows/system folder (klik games wont work on mac), or alternativley in the same folder as the game (I don’t think this works on XP though)

Font pack

Put these in C:/windows/fonts

How do I make my own?

Klik products arent free XD, you can buy them all at www.clickteam.com , I recommend just getting Multimedia fusion straight off. People say that The games factory is easier to learn, but MMF is only mildly harder, and much more powerful in the end once you get the hang of it (this will take less than 2 hours, garanteed! XD). You can also get trial versions from the site

Oh, you can get The games factory for free by finding issue 1 of Gamemaker magazine (UK only), except by the time this site actually goes online it'll probably no longer be avialable XD, so get a back issue, or see if a friend has it. Oh, you'll also need a DVD drive

If youre planning on looking for clickteam products in computer shops-Good luck! XD
