Censorship
This editorial will most likely turn out to be a rant. I just
want to say that up front. If you don't like what I have to say,
then that's just too damn bad.
Censorship: I, like some people, think that censorship is pure
BS. Sure, it's SOMETIMES understandable, but not most of the
time. I just heard a little while ago that Viz is going to start
editing the DragonBall Manga. The reason for it: A few moms got
mad, because of a few cuss words and a little nudity. On a
related note, FUNimation has fucked DBZ up the ass ( excuse my
French.) so much for the past year, that it makes me sick. (They
both gave into the pressure of moms.)
All these goddamned moms need to learn how to raise their
kids, instead of letting a video game, or TV show "baby
sit" their kids. That's just a bunch of shit. There was a
game about a year and a half ago that was going to come out
called "Thrill Kill." Me and my buddies wanted to play
this game so badly, since it was going to have an "M"
rating, and most of us could play "M rated" games.
(Except for one of them, his parents were paranoid about that.)
When EA Sports (I think) said that they weren't going to bring
the game to the states, me and my buddies were infuriated, to say
the least. (EA also gave into the pressure of moms.)
It's a wonder that "Conkers: Bad Fur Day" is going
to even come out at all! Nintendo, yes NINTENDO, the "kiddy
game company" is going to let a game like "Conkers: Bad
Fur Day" come out for the Nintendo 64. Is something wrong
here? I would consider animated testicles, a woodland creature
(More specifically, a squirrel) on a hangover, loads of sexual
overtones, etc.. worse than a little animated blood. Sony has let
lots of games come out, that Nintendo wouldn't have let get off
the drawing board! I wonder if Conkers will get lucky, and come
out. I personally hope so. I want to see JUST ONE TIME, where
these goddamned moms don't get all mad over something that their
child is bound to see, sooner or later. (Let's face it, it's
impossible to avoid.) Nintendo (The last I heard) has not yet
given in to moms. (Yet, and let's hope it stays that way.)
Another thing I don't like one bit: The fact that Metal Gear
Sold (Made by Hideo Kojima-sama) got an "M" rating.
What the fuck brought the ESRB to do that?! MGS didn't deserve an
"M" rating. There was a little bit of blood, and some
violence, and CENSORED nudity, nothing more, nothing less, but
the ESRB gave it an "M" rating. What the Hell were they
on?! MGS deserved nothing more than a "T" rating.
("M" is for Mature, and "T" is for Teen, for
those of you who might not know.)
Ok, I want to look at something else.: The fact that Japanese
6-year-olds can play/view crap that would be considered
"bad" for people my age to play/view. Hell, I was
playing Mortal Kombat when I was 8 years old! Nobody cared, I
even played against my friends. (Who were around my age, also.)
Anyway, in Japan, the crime rate is really low, but they have
kids 6 years old playing Resident Evil! (That's Bio Hazard in
Japan.)
I think Bibidi, from the Planet Namek Message Board put it
best, when he said that America is too free. Yes, you read that
correctly, America is too free...
Bibidi's logic is that most people think something along the
lines of "Gee, I live in America, because of the
Constitution, I can do whatever I want. I think Ill go
shoot someone to death today!" But in Japan, they really
crack down on stupid shit like that. (Or so Ive heard.)
That's part of the reason that they have a low crime rate. If
America were like that, then we could probably play/view some of
the video games/TV shows that Japan's little kids get to watch.
Think about this: How effective have the ratings systems been?
I can go to Media Play, and buy whatever the Hell I want, and the
people there don't give a rat's ass. I can go to any Movie
Theater, and watch almost any movie I want. (The reason I say
almost, is because Ive only had to go with an adult to one
movie, and it was Gladiator, but even it wasn't that bad.) I went
to Blockbuster, and rented American Pie, (and Im not
supposed to get movies with that damned sticker on it, and this
one had the sticker.) but they let me rent it anyway. I hope
Ive made my point.
Here's a little something to think about, for any
over-protective moms out there: Your kids are only going to be
lost when they get out in the real world, if they've been
sheltered their whole life. If you really want to keep them
sheltered from the "evils" of this world, then lock
them in a room, no TV, no computer, no radio, nothing at all. You
might want to put a chasity belt on them, too, if they happen to
get bored.
I think that Im almost done right now, Im starting
to calm down, so I don't think I can carry on with this editorial
much longer. I feel good, now that Ive written it. I feel
that I can get my opinion out to someone, by posting it on this
site. If you want to e-mail me your comments, send them here. If you
want to send me hatemail, fine with me. I don't care, either way,
but if you're one of those moms that make sure that their kids
are sheltered from the world, I have but one thing to say to you:
Readjust the Tampon, and try again.
If I offended anyone in this editorial, too bad, just deal
with it. I believe in freedom of speech, unlike some people...
Hooded One Out.
