1987 Ford Mustang LX
(pics coming soon)
My first Mustang, a 1987 5.0L
Notchback, was by far the fastest of the cars I've owned. I never
did run it at the track because the tranny was so messed up. Here's
the good, the bad, and the ugly:
-
originally a 4 cyl. car, 5.0L drivetrain
swapped in by previous owner
-
traded a 1984 Ford Ranger and $300
for it
-
broken motor mounts
-
disconnected front sway bar for
crazy launches (supposedly dangerous, my car handled fine at 100 mph)
-
T-5 transmission so abused, 2nd
gear was totally gone, 3rd grinded badly, and always popped out of 1st
(never did get around to replacing it)
-
rearend that blew up on me twice
(the first time the axle walked out and dropped the car on the rear drum)
-
K&N air filter, Accufab throttle
body(size unknown), adj. fuel pressure regulator, long tube headers, offroad
H-pipe, Flowmaster mufflers dumping out underneath the car, Pro 5.0 shifter,
aluminum driveshaft, 3.73:1 gears
-
very loud
-
very ugly
sold for $400 with a blown rear,
messed up tranny, no driveshaft, no shifter, and no ignition key
