Chinese Herbs

Due to the nature of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), most of the Chinese Herbs for Health and Wellness.effective Chinese Herbs and their combinations as we know them today have been in use for several hundreds of years. A rough estimate, based on available information in Asia, indicates that there are at least 5,000 single plant herbs used in Traditional Chinese medicine that have researched and their properties documented.  A similar number of herbs have yet to be evaluated.

Since Chinese Herbs are normally used in various combinations, the numbers of herbal prescriptions used by TCM is enormous. An educated guess is that there are over 60,000.  One major feature that distinguishes Chinese Herbs from those of most other traditional medicines is the specific and often elaborate treatment given Chinese Herbs when they are used in TCM.  Over a period of hundreds of years, basic herbs have often been developed to yield the desired benefits.

Herbal Combinations

TCM Herbs often work best in combination with other herbs.  Whether they are simply boiled or heated or mixed with other Herbs such as Astralagus, Dong Qua, or Ginkgo, the intention is always to accentuate the beneficial effects. Some of the most well known Chinese herbs in use are:
