David stared on the show for 7 years as a full time cast member. In season 8 he appeared in 5 episodes, in season 9 he appeared in 14 episodes and this season(10) he will again be a full time cast member and appear in all of the episodes. It premiered on Aug 26, 1996 The show is about a family. A minister his wife and their 7 kids ranging from 6 up to early 20's. It deals with real life issues. After all these years, the show continues to get high ratings, and remains in the wbs top 5 shows, which is a good accounting that very few especially family dramas go past 6 or 7 seasons. In fact the spring of 2003 it tied with Smallvile for # 1 show. The highest rated episode was in 1999 In Pray of Women, when Sam and David were born. Other high rated episodes were in 2000 "100" the shows 100th episode. 2003 Lucy' wedding, which was the shows 150th episode, 2005 Paper or Plastic, in which Lucys daughter Savannah was born
Some may ask how many seasons will the show go? In the Fal 2003, Creator Brenda Hampton said that season 9 would likely be the last. Beverly Mitchell did an online chat around summer O4, where she was addressed how long the show would be going her response was "However long everybody watches, so keep watching" Who knows Cathrine Hicks has been was quoted in a recent interview that she thinks it could go to an 11 or 12 season
The show has been renewed for a recording breaking 10th season (2005 to 2006). 7th heaven has official becoming the longest running family drama, surpassing The Walton?s and Little House on the prairie each went 9 seasons.
At the Teen choice awards 2001, 2002, and 2003 7th heaven won best Drama series. At the first ever TV guide awards in Feb of 1999, it won Best show you?re not watching. Which never made any sense as it was being watched. So popular was the show that starting with the 3rd season, the wb started showing 7th heaven: Begging's for old fans to enjoy and new fans to see how it all began. Now seasons 1 - 8 can be seen on Fox family Channel, twice day (check local provider for time)
7th heaven is a show that will likely go down in history with other great family shows, The Walton's, My three sons, The Brady Bunch, The Cosby show , Growing Pains
