If the service member that was awarded medals is deceased, the surviving family is allowed to receive their medals posthumously. There is also a link to the site that the government has established to award service members their Cold War Service Letter; they can also be awarded posthumously if desired. Also, below are images of all of the U.S. Military service ribbons. They can be downloaded from this site and when put together can make for some very unique stationery or letterhead. I have also included a link to a website that indexes all of the Congressional Medal of Honor recipients in U.S. Military history, it is very interesting and worth a look.
