Magikal Exercises
Exercise 1: Grounding and Centering
Before beginning visualization practice, we should ground and center ourselves. This is again one of the basic techniques of magikal work. Grounding means to establish an energy connection with the earth. Center yourself by aligning your body along its center of gravity. Breathe from your center - from your diaphram and amdomen. Feel energy flow up from the earth and fil you.
Grounding is important because it allows you to draw from the earths vitality, rather than depleting your own. When channeling energy, it serves as a psychic lighting rod - forces run through you into the earth, rather than burning out your mind and body.
Exercise 2: Formal Grounding
(This is for use in rituals and group workings.)
All clasp hands. Raise them high, and visualize the power flowing downward through your hands. Ground and center, and Leader gives the line, as coveners repeat;

Lower hands as you speak, until they touch the ground. Exhale, and feel the power flow down.
Exercise 3: The Cone of Power
All ground and center. Standing or sitting in a circle, take hands. Begin with a group breath. and gradually build a wordless power chant.
As the energy builds, visualize it swirling clockwise around the circle. See it as a blue- white light. It spirals up into a cone form - an upright shell, a cornucopia.
Hold the visualization until it glows.
The energy forms we build have a reality their own. As the power rises, people will intuitively sense the form that takes shape. As the peak is reached,the chant become a focused tone. If you have an image that represents your intent for the working, focus on it. Sometimes words or phrases come through. Let the power move until it falls, suddenly or gradually.
Let the energy go, or fall to the ground, and relax completely, allowing the cone to fly off to its objective. Breathe deeply, and let the residue of power return to the earth, for her healing.
Exercise 4: The Place of Power
In a moment, you will eneter into a new space, a place in which you are completely safe and protected, where you are in complete control and in touch with your deepest sources of strength. It may seem to be outdoors or indoors - it may contain anything or anyone you like. It is completely yours. Wherever you may be, whatever state of consciousness you may be in, you can return to your Place of Power, simply by visualizing it.
Now turn and face in the direction that feels most comfortable to you. On the Pearl's wall. draw an invoking pentacle. If you like, you may even use your own personal symbol, that will be your secret key into your own place of Power. See the symbol glow with a deep blue flame. Take a deep breath - Inhale - exhale. See the wall open, and walk throu into your place of power.
You are in your place of power. Turn and face the east. Notice that you see and hear and feel and sense. (Pause)
repeat with the South, West, and North.
Now it is time to explore your place of power. (Allow at least 5 minutes)
You are about ready to depart, finish whatever you need to complete.Now turn and face the East and give thanks, pause.
Repeat with West, South, and North.
Now look at your symbol. See it glow. See it open. Take a deep breath - inhale - exhale - and walk through back into the pearl.
Exercise 5: Seeing the Aura
I have found that the easiest way to actually "see" another persons aura is to set up a plain white background, or door in your house. Have the person stand with their back to the wall. Both ground and center. Although this step is not really needed, it does however add to the experience.
Concentrate on the crown of the intendeds head, relaxing your eyes. Do not let your vision double up, remain focussed. as your eyes grow acustomed to the person lower your eyes so that you are now staring more at their third eye, (The place just above and between the eyes) As you do so, you will begin to see an aura surrounding the shoulders and head area. Let your relaxation remain calm yet focussed. Concentrate on seeing the specific colors the aura puts off.
Have the intended push their energy field toward you, in doing so, you can also learn to develope the ability to project and dampen your personal energy field. A very useful trick when in close proximity to the esteemed "psychic vampire"
Exercise 6: Protective Circle (Also known as shielding)
Visualize a circle or bubble of white or white-blue light around yourself, with the energy running clockwise. Tell yourself it is an impenetrable barrier no harmful forces can cross or unwanted energy fields. If you have time, perform the circle visualization or quickly call upon each of the four elements in turn.
Exercise 7: Multiple Shields or Layered Shields
(This works for just about anything or anyone)
Visualize the Protective Circle and repeat the steps from Exercise 6, then simply build upon the circles with many more stacking and layering the bubbles or circles around yourself like a blanket.
You can also use dampening and projecting techniques within the shields as well, kind of like built in warnings for others.
Exercise 8: Protective Filter
Ground and center. Visualize surrounded by a glowing white light. See it as a semiporous energy field. Any force that penetrates this barries is transformed into pure creative energy. Whatever anger or hostility is sent to you, it only feeds your own power. Take in that power; absorb it; glow with it; maintain the filter around yourself as you go through the day.
