2000 Figures
After the 1997 and 1998 re-releases, it seemed that the Joes were back. We were all excited to see what 1999 would bring, and hoped that "All new figures" might happen. Hasbro, unfortunately, saw things differently. Star Wars Episode 1 was the cash cow, and Joe was put into limbo - again. Many of us thought we had seen the end of Joe - again. To the surprise of many (including myself), the info was leaked that a 2000 assortment would happen. Repaints again, but hey - re-released Joe is better than No Joe. The plastic quality is good, and the paint jobs superb.!

In mid - 2001, the 2000 release GiJoe 2-packs started to appear in Canadian Toys R Us stores. The packaging of these figures is completely different than the US figures in that the card is universal for all figures - there is no mention of the figures' names on the actual card, and therefore the same bilingual card is used for all the 2 - packs. The filecards are just a photocopy that is folded and put in with the figure packaging. Obviously Hasbro has done this to cut down on costs, and at the same time comply with Canadian law concerning Bilingual packaging on materials sold in Canada.
