He along with Vegeta and Nappa were the only Saiya-jins spared when Freezer blew up their homeworld. Raditz was a Saiya-jin elite warrior 1st class and an all around bad guy. He traveled to Earth to bring Goku back, but Goku refused to go. Raditz kidnapped Gohan to force Goku into joining him and a battle ensued between Goku, Piccolo and Raditz. While holding his brother down so that Piccolo could get a shot at him, Goku and Raditz are both killed by the blast. Before he dies, Raditz tells them that Vegeta and Nappa are on their way to Earth and they're much more powerful than he is.
