I coach people to play croquet by playing a game STRAIGHT AWAY.

WHY?

Simply because when you front up to learn to play any sport you want to play a game straight away, not go for weeks just learning to play strokes. Very few people can play a game of Association Croquet in 15 minutes because the croquet strokes take a little time to learn and the opening is so defensive. You can learn Golf Croquet quickly, but only one person gets to score each hoop, so it is possible that a beginner can go through a game of Golf Croquet without scoring a hoop. What a turn off!

So I teach Association Croquet and Golf Croquet through playing AUSSIE CROQUET.

WHY?

You can teach anyone to play AUSSIE CROQUET in 15 minutes. They are happy to be playing a game straight away, and you can coach stroke technique as they play. AUSSIE CROQUET is basically Association Croquet without the croquet stroke in the first few games and is therefore a great foundation for Association or Golf croquet because you are only playing single ball strokes - which are such a crucial part of both games.

In this form, published by the Australian Croquet Association, it is set up for schools. However, I use it very successfully as the one-off game for corporate and community groups and, most importantly, as the vehicle through which I very successfully teach Association Croquet to all age groups.
