Silbury Hill Damage 2001

Bert Janssen & Janet Ossebard vandalise an ancient Mound in Wiltshire

"Highly irresponsible I have suggested English Heritage should reprimand them for unauthorised access, and possibly causing damage."
Lord Avebury (Owner of Silbury Hill.)

Ed: During the course of this year a group of people have climbed illegaly into the center of Silbury hill, on several
occasions, damaging sensitve archaeological material and causing more damage to the mound in the name of
'Crop Circle Research'
Using the name 'Fingerprints' as a project title they are roaming the Wiltshire landscape,
often under the cover of night, sneaking in and out of crop fields and ancient monuments.
They have now published an account of their 'Adventures' on the WWW at the above address

Janet ossebaard writes
"On a few occasions a small group climbed Silbury Hill at night time,
when it was too dark to be seen and the guards had left their position.

Ed: The guards were posted there by EH to stop idiots climbing the hill. Duh!

They abseiled down the shaft to the bottom where they video-filmed what
they encountered.
The hole turned out to be exactly 33 feet deep. (The
original 18th century shaft was 130 ft deep). The walls were straight and
clean, as can be seen on the first pictures. The diameter of the hole was
8 x 8 ft. Down inside Silbury the men felt sheltered, comfortable and protected.
To everyone’s surprise, they discovered a lateral tunnel that nobody
knew about (it wasn’t mentioned in the old expedition reports).

Ed: Full reports can be found in WAM (Wiltshire Archaeological and natural history Magazine.)
Available in all local Wiltshire libraries.
The Side Shaft was the Merewether shaft which is quite clear in one of your photos.

This tunnel
- which can clearly be seen at the video - started off at 33 ft and sloped
downwards for about 18 ft. at a compass bearing of 200 degrees. At the
end it tapered off, blocked with spoil.
This is where we thought Silbury Hill had gone dormant. The guards remained
on their spot, no archaeological activity was displayed, no further anomalous
light activity was reported.
However, on 1 December, Bert (Janssen) and I paid Wiltshire a brief visit.
We drove straight to Silbury Hill and were surprised to see that the metal
lid was still on top, after all those months! The guards were no longer
there however, so we decided to take a closer look. We climbed the hill
and were amazed to discover that the hole had become about twice as big!

Ed:This is because others had also been up to take a look and also climbed inside
causing even more damage.
A french couple took several pieces of sarcen stone from the top of the hill into the Red Lion inn and cheerfully
handed them out to people.

One side of the hole (south side, closest to the A4) actually reached the
side of the metal lid. The entire construction was actually slightly subsiding,
as if it was about to be swallowed by the hole. I realised my van could
easily be lowered into the hole where it would simply disappear in the
belly of Silbury. The fence around the metal lid had been reinforced by
heavy metal wire, with only one hole in it through which we could still
crawl.

Ed: The fence is to keep people out, as is the sign which reads 'Keep Out', sorry if
it wasn't in Dutch and French as well but you should have got the jist of it, the size of the fence should have given
you a clue that you shouldn't enter. The metal lid was a dead giveaway.

After having taken some pictures we decided to leave and visit a
friend who had gone down the shaft in springtime, the same one
who had made the video footage.

Ed: (The name of this person is Rob. If anyone knows his last name please let us know.)

He was excited to hear the news and joined us straight
away for a second climb. As we laid on our bellies close to the hole, our
friend decided to call his friend
ED: (The name of this person is Dave. If anyone knows his last name please let us know)
who had gone down the shaft with him.
Late that night - after having picked up the second friend -

Ed: (The name of this person is Mark. If anyone knows his last name please let us know.)

we returned to the top of the hill, using torches in the dark and rainy
night. Our friends abseiled down once again, carefully examining the walls
and floor. As they were down there, the erosion continued.

Ed: Of course the erosion continued! Duh!
Abseiling with a rope cuts into the chalk at the rim and disturbes the layers inside the tunnel making things worst.
Surely you couldn't have thought you were actualy helping matters by doing this?

Pieces of chalk
got loose from the upper walls and tumbled down.

Ed: See?
This is what Janet photographed. Small pieces of chalk falling down the shaft
which were disturbed when she held her camera over the hole to take the photograph.
The flash on the camera is strong enough to illuminate the bottom of the shaft and the lens is focused upon the 2 people.
The 'Pieces' are reflecting some light as they spin downwards at different distances hence every 'piece' is a different size and shape.
The 'pieces' are not casting any light or shadow.

The lateral tunnel had
disappeared completely, probably filled up with chalk falling down into
it as the diameter of the hole became larger and larger.

Ed: Of course, with you and your friends causing regular damage climbing in & out
along with the weathering this is no mystery.
No wonder so many croppies reported a glow coming from the top of the hill when there were people inside with torches.
An archaeologist who checked the hill one evening came down to find two excited people who thought he was an alien!

The measurements now were as follows: the height of the hole now was
22 ft on one side and 16.5 ft. on the other side. The floor was no longer
round but egg shaped, measuring 9 x 15.5 ft.

Ed: I doubt whether acurate measurements could be taken in the short amount of time
that was spent inside with crude equipment. Its more likely that you stretched out a measuring tape
and took the numbers that you consider to be 'Significant'.

I took many photos while hanging over the edge of the hole, enjoying
a unique and spectacular view. Once again our friends said they felt comfortable
and protected.

Ed: Did it never occur to you that you were gathering evidence that can be used against you and your comfortable friends in a court of law?
If the shaft collapsed at this point they could have been buried alive.
No doubt Janet would have raised the alarm and the rescue services would
have had to resort to very crude rescue techniques with heavy earth moving equipment
to free or recover the bodies.
This would have caused irrepairable damage to the mound forever.
There's a story for you to tell on your short lived season on the lecture circuit, how you nearly ended up Dead!

DEAD, adj.
Done with the work of breathing; done
With all the world; the mad race run
Though to the end; the golden goal
Attained and found to be a hole!
The Devil's Dictionary
by Ambrose Bierce
The very next day we went to Michael Glickman to tell him our excited story.
ED: Crop Circle Grenola (equal parts of Nuts, Fruits & Flakes) selected Silbury ravings here
After having returned to the Netherlands we had our pictures developed.
One can imagine our excitement when we saw that eight of them showed small
luminosities!

Ed: Yes I can imagine how you would leap to such a far reaching conclusion
to justify your stupidity.

On one photo, about 20 lights (different colours) can clearly
be seen, seemingly above and around our two friends who indeed were not
aware of the presence of the lights.

Ed: Of course they weren't aware of any lights because there are none.
They were too busy dodging the pieces of chalk you were dislodging down upon
their silly heads!
(Of course the so called 'lights' could be faults in the film or prints made during the processing ie;
hot pieces of hashish falling from a Joint, or grains of cocaine falling from a nostril in the dark room.)

Needless to say that rain drops could
not have caused these light anomalies, since the metal lid completely shut
the hole off from all weather conditions.
Ed: Unfortunately you anchored your rope to the lid which made it sink into the soft earth and drag the lid to an angle, which resulted in the rain
running into one corner and weaking that side of the hill, probably causing the 2nd collapse.
EH then had to take the lid off to stop it falling into the widen hole.
A telephone call to National Trust made it clear that they knew
nothing about the new situation.

Ed: And of course you know everything.
I wish I was as sure of ANYTHING as you seem to be about EVERYTHING!

So, what is the situation at this very moment? According to the official
explanation, the 18th century excavation shaft has collapsed. This indeed
seems to be the case. According to others however, there seems to be more
going on. The above mentioned synchronicities (anomalous lights, the craft,
the measurements, the burned cell phone display) indicate a parallel reality.
Is there indeed an energy release going on at this very moment?...

Ed: The rest of this article disolves into unreadable vapid new age twittering of the lowest form.

ED:Here is their advert.

This short documentary (15 minutes) covers the latest discoveries surrounding the mysterious hole inside Silbury Hill (Wiltshire, UK), Europe’s largest man-made hill.

On May the 29th 2000 a 33 ft. deep hole suddenly appeared in Silbury. According to the official explanation, an 18th century mine
shaft had simply collapsed. This documentary shows that this explanation covered up some very important findings. Prior to the
collapse a huge UFO was seen hovering above the hill. Several people recorded seeing big balls of light above and around
Silbury. Crop circles seemed to be magnetically attracted to the hill.

Be prepared to see the only footage ever shot inside Silbury Hill.

ED: Not true at all. English Heritage have lowered a camera down the shaft many times over the last year to moniter the erosion.
This was done by professional cameramen not by amateurs.

It shows you the descent into the hole, the spontaneous burning
of a cell phone display, the appearance of beautiful coloured balls of light, and the discovery of secret chambers inside Silbury Hill.
ED: Secret chambers my ass! What they saw was the collapse of a tide tunnel moving upwards through the mound.
When the upward collapse reached the 3rd tier one of the large blocks of chalk fell in leaving a square hole above.

  1. A breath-taking account with mind-blowing images that – now that the hole has further collapsed – will never be filmed again.
  2. Anabsolutely unique documentary!
ED:Not Unique at all, other than as evidence to be used against you in court.

(Part 2 will be released in the winter of 2001).
ED: You won't get back onto the hill again.

You can order the video as follows:
