Book - Guadalcanal: It's All in How You Look At it ..."Ever since the American invasion of Japanese occupied Guadalcanal (August 7, 1842), I have been fascinated by the island itself, by the region as well as the details of the various battles both on land and sea. In 1997 a chance opportunity afforded me to travel to the Solomon Islands along with my brother (who had been with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines on the initial invasion). The trip was arranged by the Military Historical Tours Inc. and included visiting various battle sites as well as the chance to talk with local citizens as well as Australian & New Zealand expatriots. This then is my adventure, brimming with many beautiful photographs of past & present Guadalcanal.

About The Author

Author, Lawrence G. Means Lawrence G. Means is a World War II Marine (and Army Veteran of the Korean War), and has long had a special regard for the U.S. Marine Corps; a respect that ultimately motivated him to assemble a unique book which would be educational, pride inducing, and a source of unusual information for former Marines (those unsung mudpounders who made major contributions to, took the brunt of, and endured most of the hardships which ultimately led to victory), as well as for their families. Mr. Means is also a family man, and resides in the beautiful Pacific NorthWest with his lovely wife Tosca where he is currently at work on his next book.
