"Don't make this more difficult than it has to be. It is time for me to leave."

"I know. I just wish we were going together."

The brothers embraced a final time. The older of the two looked at the younger, memorizing his face, his smile and the perpetual twinkle in his eyes. He had the ability to find joy even in the saddest of occasions. How he would miss him!

The younger sibling spoke again, "There's one thing I don't understand. If your journey starts now, and mine doesn't begin for hundreds of-"

The elder interrupted, "That's my job. I don't know how, but somehow I will find you. That's my half of the bargain."

"And mine is to see that we return here," the younger finished.

"Yes, Father did not feel it necessary to give me the gift of faith."

"Evidently I have enough for the both of us."

It was time to leave.

"Is it true we wont recall any of this?" the younger brother asked.

"I'm afraid so."

"Find me brother, you're my best friend."

"See us safely home," the elder added.

And then he was gone.
He felt his loss keenly. But time passed surprisingly quickly and soon it was time too for the young one to begin his own journey.

"You wont recognize him," the Father spoke. "He's had a very hard journey and it will only continue to get more difficult for the both of you. But bring him back. Share with him your convictions."

LaCroix stared at the young man Janette wanted as a vampire companion. He hesitated, then looked closer. There was something familiar about him.... A twinkle in his eyes.....

The End

Before I get half a million belligerent e-mails reminding me that more than half the show revolved around blood, death and the like, I remember. I saw a few episodes. Touched by a vampire?
