Latest on the Stinger...
Last month, in an interview printed in Ted DiBiase's Get a Grip newsletter, Sting confirmed what most of us already knew, announcing his retirement from professional wrestling. Sting said that it would take a lot for his to come out of retirement and stated that his reasoning for retirement was because God was calling him in another direction. Sting stated that wrestling these days is too raunchy and that he could never see himself fitting in.
That being said, however, it seems that the WWA has been making attempts to bring Sting in for a few PPV appearances. They attempted to make a deal for their last PPV on February 24th to fill the void left by the departures/no-shows of Randy Savage, The Road Dogg, and Buff "too good for the WWF" Bagwell. However, the deal was not made, and the WWA brought in Rick Steiner and Ernest Miller instead.
Will Sting show up in the WWA anytime soon? It is possible but I wouldn't hold my breath. As for him showing up in the WWF? I think everyone can forget about that. He won't let his kids watch the WWF, which he considers far too adult, and if he won't let them watch it, there's no way he'll show up there. He's a man of strong convictions since becoming a Christian, and although I miss seeing him, I applaud and respect his decisions.
In other news, Sting has been making appearances with the Acquire the Fire Christian youth events. Sting recently appeared at one held in Saacramento's Arco Arena (Home of the Kings baby!) According to John Banchansky & wrestlingdotcom.com, he "talked about his faith and shared a little bit about his life. He also mentioned wrestling guys like Hogan, Hall, Nash, and Flair." So it looks like Sting has a lot on his plate, despite being in retirement from the Pro-Graps biz.
