In Short: A gang-banger is brought into the E.R. with
a gunshot wound, and when members of a rival gang come after him to
finish the job, a full-fledged gang war breaks out, causing the
doctors to scramble to protect their patients and themselves in the
melee. Meanwhile, an old friend of Dr. Watters, Jim Kellner, is
admitted in desperate need of a heart transplant. Kellner, a very
wealthy and connected entrepreneur, is suddenly able to come up with
a donor heart specially designated for his use. Dr. Austin,
suspicious of Kellner's tactics, refuses to perform the transplant
surgery. And Drs. McNeil and Shutt go head-to-head when McNeil
browbeats Shutt into performing a risky brain surgery on a critically
ill orthopedic patient, while the on-again/off-again romance of Drs.
Grad and"Kronk is back on again as Billy buys an engagement ring that
he's too ashamed to give her.
