Phillip's speech to Kate |
Phillip Watters to Kate Austin when she insists on speaking with
him even if he wants to be left alone:
"Kate, I can't always give a damn about what
you want. All I hear from you is I, me, mine. And from the day you
blew into this hospital, you've been erratic, strident, disruptive
and counterproductive. Your demands can never be met because too much
is not enough for you. You only give when forced and only if it fits
your needs. You want to be treated as an equal, but yet you act like
royalty. In short, you act like a spoiled child. Now, I've always
defended and protected you. I'm the one who got you reinstated after
you were suspended. But no more. No, no more. Now, you are going to
come to this hospital as a professional. You're going to function as
part of this team. Now, if that doesn't suit your purposes, that's
fine. You're free to go. But if you plan on staying at Chicago Hope
without the intention of falling in line, and that means being
treated like one of the guys, then I will fire you. I will fire
you."
