my bio

So, what have I been doing recently.

In Nov - Dec of 2002 - I took a month off work and spent the time
rediscovering myself. A time to heal from the wounds I chose to let happen
over the past few years. It was an excelent time for reflection,
to discover why I let that happen to me, and how not to let it happen again.

Since then I have been busy,

Volunteering at our local hospital,
taking self improvement courses,
upgrading my knowledge and positioning myself for a second career when
I retire from the military.

I'm also taking a management course thru Seneca College
and hope to complete that soon,
and recently finished the Alpha course at our local church
an introduction to faith, God and the church.

The certificates below are a sampling,
but do not represent all of the courses and work I am doing.
check back occasionally, this will become a large page.

I have received the results from the Nursing exams I wrote in May.
I PASSED !!!
This means I am now a Registered Practical Nurse.
Things just keep getting better and better...
My thanks to all concerned
My thanks to me

Moving right along - it seems to be mid-Sep right now
nothing has been posted on this pages since May

that dusny mean I haven't been busy

I've taken a few course for my continuing education

The first was a fitness course, which was wonderful.
Interestingly enough, I graduated from an Alternative health Studies course on the same day

and more recently, I find myself finishing phase one of a leadership course for Nurses.

This is a picture of me on the leadership course
It was / is a good course, with 14 other nurses, I was in good company
Out numbered, (14 to 1), but in good company

October is coming fast, I have added one more course
to my workload
thru St Lawrence College here in Kingston I am taking
Physical Assessment for Nurses
so far it seems to be very good,
and I look forward to finishing it, so that I can
carry on with more continuing education in the near future

I have also been asked to write an article for
Ontarios RPN quarterly magazine
if published, I'll let you know

09 - 10 Oct 03, saw me in Toronto again
This time for phase two of the leadership course

All went very well for my stay in Toronto
An added bonus was an invite to a symposium hosted by
Bausch and Lomb, on cataract surgery
It was all wonderful, my thanks to everyone
For the super visit

Time, time moves on,
waits for no-one
today is 26 Oct 03
Today I passed another course in the
Management Developement Certificate Program
offered by Seneca College
as always, there was lots to learn
and as always, I enjoyed it to the max

It's Dec 03 - time keeps on ticking
This month I finished the Physical Assessments Course
I was taking thru St Lawrence College
I don't have my mark from the final exam, but I feel good about it

The article I wrote for the nursing magazine was published
I'll bring it on line no later than the 20 Dec so you can read it
It was wonderful seeing my "story" written up by the
Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario

I'll finish the Leadership course while I'm on Christmas Holidays
It's all good...

Yesterday I recieved a package from the Royal Military College
and I'll start that course (Defence Management) in Jan

I'm enjoying life very much right now
and as I look forward - it can only get better!!!

I agree, it doesn't matter what certificates are hung on your wall,
what I believe does matter
Is my continual personal, spiritual and emotional growth.

I smile back at the man in the mirror.
That's what matters most to me.

I Am John
and really quite happy about that.
and now there is no-one
that can destroy that
no-one,
it's me and mine and I'm keeping it this time.
