The Space Rovers -- "One Moment in Time -- Part 3" In the motor pool of RRMC, four years in the past, there are many hidden figures. In the invisible Space Rover time machine are Persia, Fydo, Alethia, Star, Tungstun and Grunt. Under an invisiblitiy shield is Samantha and Cactus Jake, who are watching Groomer and a platoon of Cano-Mutants hide behind various vehicles. Five minutes pass with each group nervously looking on. Everyone realizes that the Road Rovers of that time period will soon be off on a mission, and they all know that only after these Rovers leave that they can battle. Soon, Hunter, Colleen, Shag, Blitz, Exile and Muzzle all rush towards a Sonic Rover, get inside, and take off. GROOMER (shouts): Ok, they're gone! Now let's secure the base before those pesky Rovers arrive fromt the future! CACTUS JAKE (shouts): We're already here, Groomer! GROOMER (looks around); HEY!! WHO SAID THAT?? SHOW YOURSELVES!! The still invisible Samantha and Cactus Jake sneek up behind a group of three Mutants and jumps them. Alethia, Tungstun, Grunt, Persia and Star rush out of the time machine to combat the mutants. Meanwhile back in the present... WHITEY (looking at computer monitor): Our time holding device is holding... FELICIA (running out to the others): COME QUICKLY!!! SOMETHING'S WRONG!!! Whitey, Shamansta, Rupee, Professor Hubert, Daisy and Flash follow Felicia to the medical ward and are shocked at what they see. Hunter, Colleen, Shag, Blitz, Muzzle and Exile are still in their beds, but now they are beginning to 'fade' in and out. Katrina rushes back and forth among the beds trying to use her magic to stablize them. HUBERT (sternly): It's just as I feared! DAISY (nods); Exactly! FLASH (nods): It's starting to happan... FELICIA (confused): What? What's going on? WHITEY (sternly): The disruption of the time line is beginning to 'ripple' into the present, like throwing a pebble into a pond. The longer the time line is disrupted, the more intense the effect... Felicia and Katrina scream as they watch Whitey, Flash, Daisy and Professor Hubert briefly 'fade out.' WHITEY (sternly): Ladies, calm down... The sad fact is, after the Master's death at the hands of Parvo, the Road Rovers broke up. With no one to lead them or guide them, the Rovers were soon killed by Parvo. Anyone of us who were created as a direct result of the Road Rover's efforts would no longer exist if this scenario is unchanged. FELICIA (looks at Catman): Catman and I aren't fading... KATRINA (nods): Neither am I! SHAMANSTA (looks at herself): Nor I RUPEE (nods): I understand now. The DixieCats were created apart from the Road Rovers, as is the case with me and my daughter. WHITEY (nods): That's correct, Rupee. If any of the rest of us begin to fade to the place we can no longer function, it's up to the rest of you to continue the work... FLASH (shouts); OH NO!!! WHAT ABOUT THE ROVERS THAT WENT BACK IN TIME? WHITEY (sadly): They will also begin to feel the effects of the time ripples... Back in the past, the Rovers begin to attack the mutants in the motor pool of the RRMC. Suddenly Cactus Jake, Persia, Alethia, Star, Numbia, Poncho and Fydo begin to slightly 'fade out'. CACTUS JAKE (shocked); Hey, whatsa goin' on here? ALETHIA (sternly): The time line! The disruption is beginning to effect us! STAR (angry): That's just great! NUMBIA (shocked): By the sands of the desert, I can no longer hold this shape! PONCHO (shocked): Neither can I! PERSIA (shocked): NO! This isn't supposed to happan like this! I have to hurry! As Persia runs out of the motor pool, the now weakened Cactus Jake, Alethia, Star, Numbia and Poncho are quickly captured by Groomer and the mutants. Suddenly, Numbia and Poncho have returned to their 'normal' cano-sapien forms. Otto and Samantha find themselves transformed into their pure canine forms. SAMANTHA (shocked); Oh NO!! What happaned to us? OTTO (sternly); The time line disruption! The Road Rovers, minus the Master, no longer exist. You and I were superheroes long before we met the Rovers, but in our pure canine forms. (looks around) All of the rest of our team are fading except for Grunt and Tungstun. Grunt was a cano-mutant and Tungstun was still on the Lost Pack's home planet at this time. (shouts): Tungstun! Grunt! It's up to you two to rescue the others, my wife and I are going to the briefing room to save the Master! TUNGSTUN (nods): Understood! GRUNT (nods): GRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL!!! TUNGSTUN (turns to Grunt): C'mon Grunt, let's get'm! Grunt and Tungstun now rush the mob of cano-mutants. GROOMER (shouts): NO!!! STOP THEM!!! Tungstun and Grunt soon make quick work of a dozen mutants. Groomer takes the weakened and partially fading Alethia by the shirt and points a gun to her head. GROOMER (shouts): BACK OFF, ROVERS, OR SHE DIES!!! TUNGSTUN (furious): NO!!! NOT ALETHIA!!! ALETHIA (shouts): Don't listen to her! Do what you have to do to save the others! GROOMER (angry): Enough of this! (turns to the remaining mutants): DESTROY THOSE TWO MUTTS!!! The other cano-mutants aim their weapons and fire at Tungstun and Grunt. Tungstun stands in front of Grunt and lets the laser fire hit him. Groomer is stunned, standing frozen watching the huge Irish Wolfhound standing unharmed from all the blasting. This gives Grunt the opportunity to run up to Groomer and grab her gun. The furious Pit Bull crushes the gun with one hand while holding Groomer off the floor with the other. GRUNT (shouts): GRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! The other mutants, hearing this, drop their weapons and surrender. Tungstun rushes up to Alethia. TUNGSTUN (frantic): Are you alright, my friend? ALETHIA (nods): Yes, but now we have to do what we can to save the Master! As all of that was going on in the motor pool, a different scene was playing out in the briefing room. The Master is alone, standing behind his console when behind him, a portal is opened. Parvo walks through it holding a sniper type rifle. He quickly uses the scope to aim it at the unsuspecting Master. PARVO (mumbles): So long, Professor Shepard! Otto and Samantha rush in, Otto sees the situation and using his super speed, is now standing between the Master and Parvo with his force field on. Parvo's shot bounces off the force field and ricohets around the room, causing the Master to turn around. MASTER (confused): What's this? OTTO (shouts): Samantha! Stay here and guard the Master, I'm going after Parvo! Samantha now stands beside of the Master with her force field on. Parvo manages to get off a few more shots before Otto tackles him. The Master watches in amazement as the bullet bounce away from him due to Samantha's force field. MASTER (confused): Colleen? Is that you? Why are you in your dog form? Why aren't you with the others? SAMANTHA (shouts): Please take cover, Mr Master, sir! MASTER (shocked): You can speak? You're not Colleen! SAMANTHA (realizing she spoke): Oh dear.... PARVO (angry): OTTO! GET OFF OF ME!!! As they struggle, Parvo manages to attach a magnetic disk to Otto's body. The disk causes him to malfunction and fall to the floor in convulsions. SAMANTHA (shouts): OTTO!!!! PARVO (aiming the rifle): NOW!! YOU DIE, SHEPARD!!! Before Parvo can shoot, Samantha pounces on him and begins to fight him viciously. Tungstun and Grunt arrive on the scene. Grunt uses his mighty strength to pull the magnetic disk off of Otto's body. Tungstun watches Samantha's attack on Parvo, hearing his screams and seeing him struggling to escape Samantha's rage. TUNGSTUN (shocked): I can't believe it! That's the way I used to fight in my dogfighting days... GRUNT (points, shouts): GRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL!!! TUNGSTUN (nods): Good point, I better stop her. Tungstun grabs Samantha and pulls her away from Parvo. She is still growling, barking and struggling in Tungstun's grasp. SAMANTHA (angry): HE'S MINE!!! LET ME GO!!!! HE HURT MY OTTO!!!! MASTER (watching all of this): What on earth is going on here? Soon, Otto and Samantha have transformed back into their Road Rover selves as the 'fading' Rovers stop fading. Persia walks into the room. PERSIA (smiles): Our mission is complete, Rovers! The time line has been repaired! MASTER (turns to her): Persia? PERSIA (sternly): Listen to me, Master. There's no time to explain, we have to return to the future. Don't let anything you've seen or heard affect your judgment in the future. The Master follows Persia, Otto, Samantha, Tungstun and Grunt out to the motor pool. The time machine is now visible as the other Rovers are waiting for them there. MASTER (shocked): More Rovers? How is this possible? PERSIA (shakes head): We're from the future, a future that won't come to pass if you remember the events of today. (turns to Otto): Otto, can you .... As Persia is speaking, Parvo and Groomer manage to free themselves. Before anyone can react, Parvo presses the button on his time device and has opened a portal. Otto turns and fires his eye lasers at Parvo's cybernetic arm, knocking the time device out of it as he and Groomer disappear into the closing portal. PERSIA (picks it up): As least he won't be able to try this again! ALETHIA (turns to Persia): I know what to do next. Alethia walks in front of the Master, she places her hands upon his shoulders and looks into his eyes. ALETHIA (sternly): Professor Shepard.... you are not going to remember the events of this day... only that you have been here patiently waiting for the Road Rovers to return from their mission... do you understand? MASTER (in a trance): I understand.... ALETHIA (sternly): Now, return to the briefing room... when you arrive there, you will be released from this trance... understand? The Master nods and begins to slowly walk down the hallway. STAR (shocked); WOW! I didn't know you could do that! PERSIA (nods): Great work, Alethia! We have to leave now! Load up all the cano-mutants into the time machine, we can leave no trance of us ever being here. The scene is now in the present, several hours later. The time machine has returned safely and the Master is now free from the time freezing machine. MASTER (shocked): Amazing! You mean to say, Parvo actually succeeded in traveling back in time and killing me? ALETHIA (nods): That's right... he did until we traveled back in time to stop him! STAR (nods): Yep, we managed to stop them... (sadly): But they still got away! WHITEY (nods): Afirmative. MASTER (sternly); Was anyone hurt? HUBERT (nods): Otto's systems were partially damaged by Parvo's device, but he's in the medical ward now recovering nicely. Amos, Hannah, Catman and Porthos are resting after exhausting themselves maintaining the magic that kept you from fading completely away. DAISY (smiles): On a happy note, all of the cano-mutants have been made normal and returned to their masters! MASTER (nods): Good! Well done, my Rovers! I'm proud of every one of you! FLASH (hugging Cactus Jake): I'm so glad you're back with us, honey! CACTUS JAKE (nods): Me too, little darlin'! Flash and Cactus Jake share a passionate kiss as Alethia walks up to Tungstun. ALETHIA (concerned): Tungstun? You seem a bit sad.. TUNGSTUN (sadly): When I saw you in Groomer's grasp, with that gun pointed at you... I felt... a strange sort of emotion.... ALETHIA (smiles): You felt compassion, you saw me in danger and .... TUNGSTUN (sadly): You are my very best friend, Miss Alethia... the thought of losing you ... is unbearable.. ALETHIA (sits beside him): Tungstun, I can sense you've never felt this sort of emotional attachment to anyone before, am I right? TUNGSTUN (nods): You are right, Alethia. I've never had a true friend before.. ALETHIA (smiles warmly): You have one now! As Alethia and Tungstun share a friendly hug, Shamansta walks down the hallway with Rupee. SHAMANSTA (calmly): Mom, I have to return to the ship shortly, it was very nice seeing you again and ... RUPEE (nods): I know, my dear.. You have your duties on board the Canius Minor, I remain here. I'm very proud of you, you played a vital role in this last mission.... SHAMANSTA (sadly): But I fear I'll never be as powerful as you are, mom.. RUPEE (huggging her): Daughter, fear not. Someday you will be, don't be discouraged. SHAMANSTA (cries): Thanks, Mom! RUPEE (smiles): Never forget that I will always love you, and I'll always be here for you! Back in the medical ward, Felicia and Katrina sit at Catman's bedside, Samantha holds her husband's hand. SAMANTHA (sadly): Oh Otto, are you alright? OTTO (sternly): Concern unneccassary... Damage to my systems was minimal thanks to Grunt's swift actions.. SAMANTHA (sternly): I AM your wife! Concern IS neccasary! OTTO (nods, grins); I stand corrected... SAMANTHA (upset): I wish Tungstun would've let me finish Parvo! I wanted to make him howl in pain for what he did to you... OTTO (shakes head): Irrational darling, must not let your emotions guide your actions SAMANTHA (growls): I don't care! If anyone hurts you, they'll answer to ME!! OTTO (nods): Indeed! FELICIA (holding one hand): Catman? KATRINA (holding his other hand): He's so cute when he's asleep! FELICIA (nods): Even when he's in his human form! CATMAN (open eyes): Oh... girls! You stayed here with me... KATRINA (nods): Of course! FELICIA (nods): Why wouldn't we? CATMAN (looks at his hands): I'm in my human form now, looks like I'm still low on energy KATRINA (smiles): You can draw some of our energy if you like FELICIA (nods): Sure, go ahead... anything to make you feel better! Catman closes his eyes as he slowly draws upon the girl's energy, soon he is able to morph back into his panther-sapien form CATMAN (smiles): Thank you, thank you both! FELICIA (smiles): It's our pleasure! KATRINA (nods): You bet! CATMAN (happy): See what you can achieve when you aren't quarreling? FELICIA (nods): You're right, Catman! KATRINA (smiles); And when you're well enough, you and I can go out to dinner together... FELICIA (interrupts): No, he's going out with me! KATRINA (growls): No, he's my man! FELICIA (growls): Yeah, right! CATMAN (watching them argue, to himself): What am I going to do with theses two? In the briefing room, Porthos walks over to Star. PORTHOS (smiles): You're Star, right? STAR (nods): Yes PORTHOS (smiles): My name is Porthos, it was a pleasure to work together with you on this mission! STAR (shakes hands): Thanks! You cats are pretty good allies! PORTHOS (nervous): Miss Star, I was wondering, would you like to go out to dinner with me? STAR (smiles): That's sweet, Porthos, but no thanks. I don't date cats. PORTHOS (nods); I understand.... STAR (smiles): Hey, I'm flattered by the offer, really I am, but it's that cat-dog thing, I don't think it'd work out PORTHOS (smiles): Understood, Star... thanks for letting me down easy.. Porthos walks over to Patch and Thomas. PATCH (smuggly): Turned you down, right? PORTHOS (nods): Yes THOMAS (smiles): Oh well, maybe someday we'll meet some more female felo-sapiens PORTHOS (giggles): As long as we don't have to fight over one, like Felicia and Katrina are! The scene is now the bridge of the Canius Minor several hours later. As the ship prepares to return to deep space, Persia's last log entry plays in her mind. PERSIA (voiceover, recorded): Captain's log, entry # 3310. Now that the emergency on Earth has been taken care of, we are ready to return to deep space. Before leaving Earth, I was priviledged to perform a double wedding ceremony. Lt Jake and Flash, Lts Numbia and Poncho are now officially married! We'll be dropping them off on Graum for their honeymoons. End Entry... ALEXANDER (turns to Persia): Captain, I have read your report on your journey back in time, but one thing still puzzles me PERSIA (smiles): What would that be, old man? ALEXANDER (confused): During the fight with Groomer and the cano-mutants, you ran away, why? PERSIA (sternly): I had to perform the most important part of this entire mission! ALEXANDER (confused): What was that? PERSIA (smiles): I had to speak to a certain Road Rover who had just joined the team. I had to explain to her that ... BOB (brightens): YES!!! I know! You talked to your past self about this future incident, right? PERSIA (nods, smiles): Exactly! That's how I knew what to do, when it was going to happan and who we should take with us... ALEXANDER (shocked): You told YOURSELF about the future? Didn't that change the timeline? PERSIA (sternly): If I hadn't warned myself what was coming, then Parvo would've won. This was a vital part of the timeline, understand? ALEXANDER (shakes head): You got me confused, Captain PERSIA (smiles): That's alright, I'll explain it to you in detail later. (turns to Saundra): Saundra, plot a course just outside of Pluto's orbit (turns to Whitey): Whitey, prepare to activate the artificial wormhole generator (turns to Boomer); Boomer, engage at warp 1. (smiles): Time to get back to deep space.. With several 'aye Captain' replies, the Canius Minor slowly moves away from Earth, then 'disappears' in a warp 'flash'. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
